We were told his remit was to improve our position THIS season, how does that involve 2 transfer windows and a pre season? He doesn’t need to remove dead wood as Nige did, why allow him as long as Nige, when apparently we already have a squad able to reach top 6?. It’s a completely different scenario. If we don’t make the playoffs this season why did we appoint him?He needs a minimum of 2 transfer windows and a pre-season. Any judgement before that is unfair, as it was for Nige before him!
It was Nige’s choice to let then go for free you say, so you tell me, who would have bought them? Did anyone offer anything for them?, did we ever turn down an offer? . The answer is NO.You could look at that two ways. When he came he had more than enough players, used to playing at upper level of Championship. Granted there was a load of deadwood but it was Nige’s choice to let them go free.
Our trading finances look good based on two players sold. The others were let go of free.
We did need a reset but just a few of them performing could and should off with his experience been higher up the league.
How long did we wait for our first home win? Yet he was given time, when LM got his first attempt. And seems to be hung out by a few already after 5 games.

Even our lunatic board concede with Nige we were likely to finish top 10 this season, which for them wasn’t good enough.
If we’ve as much deadwood now, how come we’ve a top 10, or possibly top 6 squad, why was NP sacked for underachieving with this squad?, why did both BT & JT say we’ve the best squad we’ve had for years?, sorry that’s just plain nonsenseNigel also had a lot better players when he joined to when he left, they weren’t all deadwood, some of them were just on expensive contracts. the reason most left without a fee was due to COVID hitting finances, a lot of them found other clubs pretty quickly, with quite a few ending up at clubs that fared a lot better than City since… and a couple played in World Cups and Euro Championships.
I think you’ve defeated you own argument about the quality of the current squad in other posts, so I think LM has as much, if not more deadwood to move on than Nige did to be honest.
Well mid season and near the top as we were... shouldnt need to much as / as much because the position we were in was keeping up with the rest of the contenders and we had 3 or 4 good players out awaiting recall! He should be able to fine tune what we had if we are to believe our position game 15 was truly indicative to being 10th after 15 games 4 pts [ and 3 teams between us ] off 6th and 11 pts above bottom 3 now we are 4 pts off 6th but 3 teams on 30 pts! [ 7 teams between us ] in 14th but just 7 pts above relegation zone!He needs a minimum of 2 transfer windows and a pre-season. Any judgement before that is unfair, as it was for Nige before him!
I must admit I lost track of Cotts after he was sacked by Shrewsbury, so I have absolutely no idea…..Last 5 games :

Read on OTIB by quite a few sensible posters, JL and BT never actually said top six. It was the other one that actually said he thinks promotion is the aim.We were told his remit was to improve our position THIS season, how does that involve 2 transfer windows and a pre season? I read OTIB as well, and frankly that’s nonsense, if that’s the case what was the board’s reason for sacking Nige?, read it again. The sensible posters you quote on OTIB agree with me.Read on OTIB by quite a few sensible posters, JL and BT never actually said top six. What was actually said is top end, us lot took that as meaning top six.
Agree with everything you say, however I have a slightly different take on the reason LM has to do well straight away. It’s completely down to JL bottling giving the real reason for NP dismissal and trying to dress it up as performance related, it wasn’t. Had he been truthful and said it was due to differences between himself and Nige, at least LM wouldn’t have been forced into the ridiculous position that he finds himself.Bottom line people JL wanted NP gone.
NP told JL plenty of home truths and JL did not like it.
Nothing to do football wise -Personality clash and unfortunately NP lost his job.
95% of the fan base wanted Nigel to take us on.
Under the Lansdowns for me all the good work over the last three years has been wasted and we go back to a typical Bristol City appointment in a guy that has no experience at this level and has all to prove.
For me the fact JL said LM has to get us up the table that started straight from when he took the job.
Clearly after 5 games that ain’t happening.
JL wanted an immediate improvement that has not happened as yet.
I’ve not seen anything proving it was actually said.I read OTIB as well, and frankly that’s nonsense, if that’s the case what was the board’s reason for sacking Nige?, read it again. The sensible posters you quote on OTIB agree with me.
He actually made a lot of sense. Why would I not agree with him?I’ve not seen anything proving it was actually said.
Most on there would agree with you. They’ve still not got over that Nige has gone and pin onto the hope he will return.
We know you’ve lost the plot when you’re agreeing with RR
I don’t really care about the past. I hated a lot of things the clubs done or appointed but to me it’s still my club so I just go along with it.He actually made a lot of sense. Why would I not agree with him?
I agree with most of your points too, and I see your point about giving Manning time. Where we differ is I believe JL & BT should be held accountable for their decisions, not for NP’s sake, but the clubs sake. We are where we are but I can’t just sweep under the carpet how amateur SL & BT were, and remain.

What I do like and seeing it in glimpses is this new way of playing and organising of players. We just need them to stay with it for 90 minutes as we are still making errors.
Whatever the injustice of the Nige sacking, and the idiotic posturing and statements achieved by Lansdown Jnr, the simple fact is the old regime of Nige is over, Liam Manning is our new boss, none of what hppened is down to him, he deserves all the support we can give him, he most certainly has mine, I'm not waiting on judgements I just want the guy to succeed, time will tell, just get on with the job LM we are with you.
