Oh, it's definitely an old tale in MLS. The weird part is that Insigne is still very good at the European level, rather than the usual MLS fare of a guy whose knees are about to give out (but will still do well in MLS).
We only signed him 6 months ago. Newcastle have unlimited money and they've been giving it the big one since their takeover. I doubt we'll be feeling too friendly to them either after they cheated their way out of playing us because of a few injuries. If they want any of our players they can pay ridiculous fees for them which will help us more than the player would help them.
Newcastle are the new West Ham. Waive the money around then find all their transfer targets become more expensive and less good and wonder why. They will be buying lots of experienced high wage players which bigger clubs don't want and then find out why they are unwanted.
Everton are an example of this aren’t they ? They got some good players like Richarlison But also: - Overpriced and/or high wage unwanted players from bigger clubs - Walcott, Delph, Iwobi, Mina, James Rodriguez (who didn’t really want to be there) - Overpriced players from other clubs who bent them over a barrel - Gylfi (and maybe some others) It hasn’t worked out well 12m for trippier is a good and surprising start as they wanted close to 30m from Man United in summer otherwise he would be there now. Baffles me that they accepted so much lower unless they add ons double the fee but the headline is the reduced amount to show them as sensible
Cant blame them for wanting him, he is our best left back, its only Ralph's strange team selection that means he isn't playing and replaced by our best RB playing in his place (Tino should be playing wide right midfield)
I wish people would stop saying this. Why should Tino be playing wide right midfield? Maybe Ralph has tried it in training (and I'd actually think he will have done) and it doesn't work. Remember that Southgate did precisely this with TAA for England, and it was a disaster.
Because Tino is not as good defensively as kwp as shown by the Spurs game Tino is great going forward but frail defensively, it is as obvious as the nose on my face especially now Armstrongs fitness has been questionable
KWP may be better defensively but it doesn't mean Tino's frail. He's still only 19 let's not forget so he's only going to improve.
Brighton have signed 18 year old Kacper Kozlowski. That's a good signing - he's got bags of potential.
Purely a matter of opinion, I think Tino (I know how old he is) is a risk defensively whereas KWP isn't Tino breaking forward is awesome and moving him forward will give him more freedom to develop It would also mean we can play Perraud at LB and having a left footer crossing makes a big difference offensively LTL I hear what you say but AA is excellent going forward and has an excellent defence and defensive midfield covering for him, we don't have that luxury
Whilst i think it would be worth seeing Tino play further forward Im with others in stating that Ralph likely has tried this in training and knows it wont work. That said, I completely agree about having a left footer at LB. As solid as KWP is at LB, he is much better down the right and it would be good to see what Perraud can do as he has played well when given the chance.
I certainly agree on Perraud. Hopefully we will see more of him in the 2nd half of the season. The thing is we don't play RM's so Tino would have to be one of the AM's and I don't think that would work.
Tino is very athletic, quick and strong.. this is why he performs so well in RB, he can carry the ball with ease with such pace and acceleration over a long period of space..., This is why he is heading the charts for fouls drawn.. Because you don't touch him unless you go in with a foul in mind! I'm with Ralph, I just can't see him.performing optimumly as a 10 and if you ask him, I doubt it is his game either.
I get it, I really do. And it may well work, which wouldn't be a surprise. But it's people's (not yours necessarily!) certainty that it's somehow the golden ticket that confuses me a bit. I mean it's a bit mad to think that if we've all thought of it as a possibility, that Ralph and his coaches haven't. There'll be a reason, and a good one, why they haven't used it in games so far. The obsession with playing a young player out of position is just a bit odd.
