Good point Brizzle. Back in the days of my self imposed absence from Ninian so I only really saw him for Wales. Retired too young through injury but still in the coaching staff at Villa. Took charge of their first team recently when their manager had covid.
In truth we have had some very good full backs. Fabio eventually settled in and was always wholehearted. Super Kevin McNaughton of course. Even Tony Capaldi was very useful at this level. In terms of sheer athleticism though, I'm not sure we have seen anyone quite like Drameh in a City shirt in that position.
Ron Stitfall or Mr Cardiff City. Bluebird fan from birth and one club career. Mainly a full back but also played up front once or twice if memory serves. My first hero.
Stitfall vernacombe malloy now your talking pure footballers and not to forget ivor and len allchurch, john and mel charles, joe Bonson and my best of the lot for me Derick Tapscot, happy days.
I had a training session with Ron Stitfall when I was a kid playing junior (under 16s) football.... He was a guest coach for the day... Lovely fella.
Just saw that Tomlin is training with Wrexham (or Hollywood FC as they are now known). Not a "trial" as such but could work out for both parties if all goes well.
Funnily enough walking out of the ground last night we discussed the same point and could not think of anyone who came close. Delaney was not in the same league pace wise.
John Charles!! I remember him playing for Hereford Utd v Rugby Town in the old Southern League way back when I was a nipper. Probably about 64/65 season
