I see we’re linked with Joe Walsh too now; hope life’s not been too good.

Where the bloody hell is FFP, £460m in debt & can pay £3.5m a year, talk about a level playing field

There have been reports this week that Fenerbahce asked fans to help fund Mesut Ozil's £13million wage packet by donating money through a text message campaign.

The German Ozil be earning £67,300-a-week or £3.5m-a-year until 2024 and Fenerbahce President Ali Koc asked fans to donate £2 each via an SMS service.

The Turkish club are suffering from financial troubles and are £460m in debt, but Koc added: "I want to explain this a bit more. We didn't start a special campaign [to fund the transfer].

"We only changed our usual two-year campaign [Fenerol] for four days [to Mesutol]. This is a sub-campaign where Mesut in Turkish means 'happy'. We were reflecting our joy in the transfer.

"We'd like to thank our great fans who have come together with us and supporting us. A quarter of a million of these short messages reflect their happiness in Mesut's arrival and this will also make us very happy."

'OZIL A ROLE MODEL FOR NEXT GENERATION'

Fenerbahce President Ali Koc continues: "He will overcome the adaptation period shortly and I'm sure he will be in harmony with his other team members. His personality is just as important as his footballing ability. During his career, he has brought beautiful goals and assists, and also from a humanitarian perspective he has also made a big contribution.

"In social responsibility projects, Mesut has taken such a good stance despite the fame. He's always been very grateful and his stance has touched millions of people. As a result, being a good person has turned Mesut into a global brand. His relationship with children and being a role model is very important.

"I wish this picture of him will contribute to a new generation supporting Fenerbahce. There were those he felt this dream was an impossibility but we knew the dream would come true."

'CONDITIONS CAME TOGETHER FOR DREAM MOVE'

President Ali Koc continues: "When we came back from London, we started the detailed talking with Arsenal. We cleared the wrinkles in order to realise the transfer. Until yesterday, it was still a dream and some people were still saying it was impossible.

"To have such a big name come to Fenerbahce people said it couldn't happen but there were many things in our favour to realise this; his wish to pay for his childhood club and his longing to play in Turkey.

"His sacrifice financially also played in our favour. There were many better offers in front of him, but to have such a world-class player to join our club without a fee, his unhappiness at Arsenal and his relationship with his agent - a big Fenerbahce fan - all worked in our favour.

"When all these conditions came together, it was clearly a huge opportunity for Fenerbahce."

    OZIL PRESENTED TO TURKISH MEDIA

Mesut Ozil's signing ceremony has been taking place at Fenerbahce following his free transfer from Arsenal.

At present, the President Ali Koc is giving information about Ozil's transfer process.

He said: "When I first arrived in London to begin negotiations with Mesut, I first spoke with Arsene Wenger. He said, 'you don't need to ask about his talent'. I asked how he was, how his fitness was.

"Arsene was so positive about Mesut and so he spoke with our manager. It was a very fruitful conversation.

"During our conversation, Mesut mentioned his dreams to play for his childhood club and for this he said he wouldn't make the financial aspect an issue. It was then that our journey to sign him truly started."

I only hope that the move for BOS works out. So many that have left QPR havent exactly set the world on fire...on Eze so far. Manning.....jury is still out. Wells and Hugill werent our to start with. Smitihies has started but not really set the world alight

Eze, not doing well? From what I've seen and read Eze has made a pretty good start at Palace. He looks very comfortable at that level to me, has scored a couple of great goals, and whenever I've seen player ratings after a game Eze has been in the top 2 or 3 rated Palace players, sometimes top.

But then Eze really stood out as the class player when he was with us. For me Freeman was one that was often our best player when he was with us, and just before Eze really came on, but hasn't done much since he left. Getting him back on loan now if he is fit enough could really help us, he doesn't seem to play much at Forest where he's probably lost with the other 374 other 1st team players.

OSlo - Eze is THE only one to set the world on fire since he left us. I only hope that there is a sell on clause in the deal that we have with palarse...

Furlong has done well relatively speaking for a £1.5m signing.

I think you missed the ly out of the only in your original post Ninj, and I thought you were including Eze as like Manning for example.

McCarthy in goal for Southampton has done okay. Smithies was Cardiff player of the year last year when they made the playoffs.
Nice careers for both of themDanny Simpson won the premier League with Leicester too.

Sterling mind you has been pretty S***
