We should know better and start this thread with only days to go...probably still not sign anyone, but the distress would be shorter.

I find myself in a very odd position. I don't think we will sign anyone, but I think we easily have the squad to stay up anyway (actually to be top half). The problem is a "manager" who is out of his depth, who just doesn't get it and who doesn't have clue one how to get the best out of people. I find myself almost hoping Spurs crush us tomorrow - if they do, I think he will be gone by Monday. Those of you here who know me will be surprised by that - but I see no other way if we want to stay up (and that is a whole different question!)

If you read up this and other threads you will find you’re by no means on your own in thinking that way. I wouldn’t go quite as far as hoping we get thrashed by Spurs but looking at it the other way, even a shock win against them wouldn’t mean we had turned the corner, as long as Pellegrino is in charge. Apart from the manager, the squad stands up against most of the bottom 14, although a decent striker would be welcome.
I know it's looking back but ignore owners and managers for a while and consider this;
Our best period for positive goal difference was when we had Sir Rickie and Pelle up front as target men but with other attributes. - not just lump it to the target but they could drop back and link up play too. Not now, we are all about speed and wingers - we're doomed I tell you!
Playing without a target man doesn’t do Man City much harm, although when your front 3 consists of Sane, Aguero and Sterling, with De Bruyne and Silva creating, it’s a whole other story!
Not just the managers fault, he isn't controlling the players on the pitch. People that say we have a top half team apart from from the manager must have missed the end of last season. We only finished 8th because of the first half of our season and amount of teams playing ****

We certainly don’t have a nailed-on for relegation squad though.
Although I fret before every match (and who wouldn't this season) I am usually one of the most positive in the sense of confidence about the club. Even I'm getting concerned that the situation within the club is not as it seems....not suggesting anything criminal...but just that there are things we don't know. Otherwise why do we struggle to get players when any other team can sign one or two....are we being too fussy at the price we can afford? I can understand being careful....especially with relegation looming....but now might be the time to take risks. We are 2 injuries from having no strikers at all....without enlisting inexperienced academy lads.
There is no sense in buying a PL club unless it is to show off your wealth. The potential exposure to your investment is colossal unless you consistently reinvest. The deafening silence and lack of transfer activity from Gao scares the hell out of me. If Mansour is at one end of the takeover spectrum and SISU is at the other, Gao currently has far more in common with the latter than the former. Early days I know but it’s usually the early days that are a marker as to what to expect from a new owner. I do hope we wheel out a Robinhoesque signing in the next week after an announcement from Gao that he is taking control of transfers.

I agree with that. But our form has been **** for ages now (it must be at least 38 games), we have been in relegation form for more than this season
Not far off it tbh, if you look at our form under Puel and Pellegrino from 2017 - it's relegation form.
Puel was fine, some of the players were just dicks so didn't play for him which turned the supporters on Puel. Pellegrino has no clue, but some of the players are still at fault
