Have we signed anyone yet?
Of course not, the transfer window came as a complete surprise to our management so weren't ahead of the game and they didn't realise we would have sold VVD to get £60m in the pot.
All a bit of a surprise so playing catch up, hopefully we might get someone nobody will have heard of by the end of the month
Or am I being a little cynical?

I mean a player who can offer a focal point in the attack and can help push the team further up the pitch and potentially get Tadic and Boufal on the ball in more dangerous areas, someone to play alongside Gabbiadini in certain situations. An alternative style of player to what we have at present Who could help bring out better performances from those around him.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter now, I’m sure we will eventually get a new striker this window who will be better than Sam, but I think we left ourselves unnecessarily short of options for the first half of the season and especially over Xmas

I got what you meant, but my point was that there is no point having that option if it is not good enough.

I have said ever since he made his debut for us against Arsenal, that I didn’t think Gallagher is or would be a Premier League striker. I really hoped he proved me wrong, but never believed he would. TSS also said this.

Anyone crying that we loaned him out really is living in a different footballing universe.

Always thought that too and couldn't agree more.

Even his goal against Norwich bounced off him after he hit the keeper.

No; you are being factual. You forgot to mention that we sell quick and are not so quick to buy.

Compare to Everton; offloaded Barkley and used the fee to fund a striker they feel fits their needs all within the first week. Smacks of forward planning to me...

Most football transfers are done like this, but Liverpool are known to pay most of the fees upfront to get deals done. But Jeremy Wilson, Simon Peach and Adam Blackmore have all said differently when it comes to the structure of the fee. Would be more inclined to believe them.

Well that is all well and good but all football transfers are done like this. If we buy a player for 30m we don’t pay 30m up front either, so we can spread payments out to coincide with money we receive for VVD

Exactly. That doesn't include the tens of millions we owed and were owed, either; it's the natural state of affairs.

Hopefully, this is just us trying to ensure that prices aren't obscene, because spending a mere 20m in this window would be comically risky.
