I agree. But equally, if the money is spent well, then even MP should be capable of having us top ten rather than bottom three.

It wouldn't be right, and would just be covering up his failings, but it would keep us up. Even I have enough faith in Les that he can't now mess up this next month both on the transfer front AND the manager front (and messing up on both fronts is the only way I can see us going down - messing one up would be hugely frustrating, and another reason for him to go, but it shouldn't send us down).

Agreed. But it wouldn’t be right, and it would mean we put ourselves in danger of losing good players (Lemina/Romeu/Gabbiadini) in the summer.

Only problem with signing Walcott, is that whilst MP is in charge, he'd probably end up playing in the hole for us, or left wing.

And wouldn't get as much game time as Redmond.

My mini wish list....

Theo Walcott (I have £10 on him at 18/1 because I listen to LTL :emoticon-0100-smile)
Ryan Sessegnon
Arthur Melo (dream land)
Malcolm
Target man of some description, can’t think of a good one off hand

I did think that but we'll see what happens.

I mean, wouldn't be the first player to take an unconventional path to the top of the game, but I'd be shocked if a few months with Dundee has him prepared to walk into the first team of a PL side. This time last year he was struggling to get into the MK Dons lineup, before returning to Wigan and finding himself buried on a team that was badly in need of defenders.

Copying this over from my other post...

K Billy over on SaintsWeb says we have at least a couple of deals close to completion. Definitely got a striker which inevitably seemed to be coming, plus Shane Long is in the process of being sold.

Still hoping for Alcacer. Him and Walcott would be very good additions. Not sure who I want at centre back though.

Another Dundee target of ours has got very lucky recently: https://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/...r-jamie-robson-filmed-drinking-glass-driving/

Glad we haven't signed him off this alone.

Probably aiming way too high, but Unai Nunez with Athletic looked like a hell of a prospect the couple times I saw him. I would not be adverse to throwing a large sum of money their way.

Edit: from DTLW's post above:

The structure and timing of the transfer reflects Southampton’s desire to now make major signings of their own and they are committed to reinvesting the entire fee. They hope to add an attacking player next week and are also lining up other deals.

Well, we've now stated through our mouthpiece that it'll all be reinvested. It's just a matter of what we mean by "reinvesting"...if the 70m is meant to cover not just the transfer fees but the wages and bonuses for their entirety of the contracts of the players acquired, it won't actually go that far.

Release those big money balls!

It's going to be spend, spend, spend from now on.
