Yes, really. He might be the most naturally gifted player we have, but you build a team around a player who can control games, and who has a proven ability of bringing others into the game. Not sure I've seen enough evidence yet that he can do either of these things.

And I'm not knocking him; just not convinced yet that he's Yohan Cruyff.

Ok we disagree. I thought we built a team around Le Tiss but not because he controlled it, but because he could produce those moments of magic.

Now Boufal is no Le Tiss, but our problem for a long, Long time has been undoing teams... so I would play as much through him as we could. He would be the first name on my ram sheet each week from now until the end of the season. Let him create those moments of magic.

I also think he is as near as we’ll get to a Johan cruyff, albeit miles from him.

The possibility of complete bollox on this thread......i dont believe it, not for one second . Long was very good when he replaced Pelle, he gets a lot of stick on here, some deserved an some not.

That’s what I was saying, he was very good when he replaced Pelle down the middle but not when he was wide.

End of the day Long is a striker, you buy strikers to score goals. Shane may hassle the opponents team and may never give up, but he doesn't score

Still forgetting that Gabbi has been bang average in most of the games he's played the same as the rest of the team.

He has also looked mightily disinterested a few times when I've seen him recently. He seems more intent on sulking than fighting for his place.

Not really what we need in a dog fight.

Fair enough. I think he may struggle to live up to your, expectations but at least a team set up like that would be entertaining to watch.

I would certainly like to see more of him, and have been saying that for over a year now. I haven't yet seen the player you have seen, but perhaps he's in there.

I didn't even mention Gabbi.. I am saying Long isn't good enough sadly. I still want Gabbi to get time as a wide player

Sadly I think it will be passed by as although played more recently, he still hasn’t been given that 6-10 game run.

He’s my new Gaston. What could possibly go wrong :)

So who do you suggest we play up top if you don't want to see Long? As far as I can tell they are only two options at present and long is the best one.
Me!

We should have bought a striker by now. We knew Austin was ****ed, we knew Van Dijk was going. We know Long doesn't score and we know Gabbi hasn't been given enough of a chance. 16 days since the window opened, it is yet another failure by the board

Couldn't agree more, though I think Gabbi gets an easy ride compared to others.

Like my reply to fats says, it all comes back to failures by the board to adequately Beef up the attack.

Didn't see this edit first and completely agree. My point about long is that I agree he isn't good enough to be starting for us but is our best option at present. Also been calling for Gabbi to play in one of the three.
