While the window opened too late for a deal to be completed in time for the Lorient defender to be available against Aston Villa yesterday, it is pleasing to see the Black Cats showing a sense of urgency rather than waiting until deadline day. Because, put simply, they do not have time on their side. Forget t
19:48 BLACK CATS EYE KIRCHOFF Sunderland are set to bolster their defensive options with the signing of Bayern Munich defender Jan Kirchoff, according to Fichajes. Sam Allardyce has revealed he will enter the transfer market this January, with the Black Cats boss also confirming signings will be made from outside the UK. And now reports suggest the North East club are closing in on a deal to bring Kirchoff to the Stadium of Light. The 25-year-old, despite being signed by Bayern in 2013, has spent a large amount of time on loan at Bundesliga club Schalke 04, although he has featured once under Pep Guardiola in the German Cup.

Kicker reports that Bayern Munich and Sunderland have come to an agreement to sell with both a fee and contract terms negotiated between the teams. The former German youth international has been the subject of interest from the English club for several weeks and is in all likelihood on his way out at Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich don't arrive back in Germany until the end of next week . Given that Kirchhoff has been off for the past two weeks on break, it's not an altogether surprising situation considering returning to peak fitness would likely be ideal if his goal is to slot directly into the Sunderland first team. That in many ways goes double given that they th

But Hammers’ chiefs are ready to offload the 26-year-old striker, apparently, according to the Mirror, with former club Newcastle and former boss Sam Allardyce at Sunderland interested." 26? I thought he was a lot older than that.
I know mate. They`ll print anything to stir up a bit of unrest. Still, I suppose that`s what Ashley pays them for. I wasn`t bothered about posting this but it`s the only thing I could find this morning that mentions us at all.
No surprise he is up for sale. Bilic been saying all week he is now fully fit. This lad could fall apart any minute, his injury record is so poor. If they can get £18 million for an absolute crock on par with Rodwell I will eat my shorts. If we bought him for £18 million I will eat everyones shorts.
We may still see Gassama sign for Sunderland before the close of the window, if the 'small details' in his contract can be ironed out but the player says for now he is keeping his options open and although he may leave either now or in the summer, an extension with Lorient is also a possibility.
