Ejaria was signed by Reading just over a year ago for just under £4m according to Wiki.......... On what basis can anyone see that the club could actually afford him?

I think I am right in saying that they had him on loan and an integral part of that loan deal was the option to purchase at the end of that season for £4M. He is highly rated by Reading and would command a transfer fee nearer the £10M range. Not a snowballs chance in hell of us being able to afford him or him wanting to come.

QPR are one of the clubs looking at signing Hearts and Scotland central defender John Soutter. He can also play defensive midfield. Would be a good player if we can get him onboard.

QPR, Luton Town and Birmingham City join race to sign John Souttar - The 72
Is he similar to Geoff Cameron? I actually feel we miss Cameron. Obviously, we needed to get rid as he was losing his legs. But it would have been nice to replace him with that kind of player who plays both midfield and central defence.

Field is pretty close, though he looked better in defensive midfield than at CB.

I’m sure (hope) that the scouting team are working on a couple of wing-backs for now and development. We need them to take the team forward towards an exciting improvement. Trouble is they’re like hens teeth, but find them and they will be a highly valuable asset (now and in the future).

I have no idea where they are. Anyone have any recommendations?

Isn't he now called Field.
And once fit, is that not what we are using him for

Quite a different player in some ways. I get your point. Field is essentially employed as that CDM. However, Cameron had a lot of experience as central defender. Also, he was a lot bigger and better on the ball. Which is not to say he's a better player, as that's that's down to opinion I guess. However, I'd take a younger Cameron over Field any day.

I’d rather have Kiwi than the Cameron we had towards the end.

Think Kakay would fill in nicely as RCB and push Dickie into the centre if necessary. A bit of extra pace there might be no bad thing even if he’s not great on the ball.

He wasn't that bad :cheesy: But yes, he'd totally lost his legs by the end.

Kakay has seemed fine in a central defense role before. Ball has played there too and also looked fine.

I hope we don't have to rely on Ball, Kakay, Field, Wallace, Dozzell or anyone else playing in the back 3 before De Wyjs is back, but just one injury or suspension before January at least to one of our current back 3, and I think we'll have to unless we change to 4 at the back. I've heard it said that Warburton doesn't rate Masterson so we could be looking for another CB in January, maybe 2 if Barbet is returning to France at the end of the season as I've heard is rumoured on Twitter. He will also be out of contract then. I hope Barbet signs a new contract myself as I think he's a great player, plays every game and would be hard to replace.

What are the rules on terminating a loan in an emergency? I know you can do that with keepers. Can you with defenders?

It's probably more about the contract that was signed between clubs, I presume.
