Isn't this transfer window the complete opposite of the one when we were throwing money away on Barton and others?

My heart likes that window but my head likes this one. A cheeky tenner on us being top six next season anyone? Actually, maybe 21/22!

Err ........... No.

There is a positive with the players leaving......it does give the younger ones an opportunity to get into the first team. We have to cut our cloth accordingly, and I am sure that when MW took the job he knew he would have to wheel and deal over a period of time.

Come on Mate, I do think there is a plan.

Starts with getting out from the penuary of FFP, then establishing a decent team from youth and diamonds in the rough and then pressing on to success.

Failure? Absolutely possibly but if we do fail, we won't be slapped with another FFP fine so we pick ourselves up and try again.

This was always going to be a difficult window but I think the club are doing right to stick to their guns and resist splashing the cash. The neanderthal element of our fan base will never get it though so we can expect the Les out brigade to be in full voice tomorrow. Must admit I was Surprised to see BFG go though given how sparse we are in the CB position, I know he's not MWs first choice but he's been playing most games.

It’s so disappointing that we couldn’t hold onto Wells, Freeman and Smithies because we accepted shocking advice from the likes of Mark Hughes and spent money on Bosingwa, Granero, Caesar, Park, SWP etc etc

it feels like we are the only club that has properly fallen foul of FFP and has been punished to the full extent of the regulations.
I know what you're saying but don't blame Mark Hughes. Blame our **** for brains owners.

Ready a new rumour for me today that Palace will bid £15M for Eze as WHam look to have got their target Bowen. Probably fiction.

3 rumours for tomorrow
Coulibaly ( no idea)
Emole from Arsenal on loan
Big bid for Karlan Grant Huddersfield...but maybe to rich for us

Unless we sell Eze for 15 million to CP.
But why they have Zaha

I think our management clearly see different to the rest of us, everyone thought we'd strengthen close to the worse defence in the Champ with a CD & even a keeper but why follow obvious logic & instead lets get rid of a CD & also a predominantly DM as that will clearly help. I assume as we've only brought in Clarke they think he can cover multiple positions (maybe even in the same match) i.e keeper, CD, DM, striker<yikes>

Look like we'll be limping towards safety & end of another season. Apart from bringing through some saleable players in BoS, Eze, Chair which no doubt we'll sell at bottom dollar I don't really see where we're heading, is the aim going to be survival every season with a bunch of loanies or is there really a longer term strategy<confused>

Personally I am not too dissapointed with this window. Wells leaving is a bit of a blow but I am actually glad we havent been panicked into buying a near 30 year old in and out striker for an inflated fee. We need to be buying players with many good years ahead of them.
Common sense in this window may mean we can retain the likes of Eze, BOS, Chair and Manning for next season as well as the rest of this.
I think if you factor in Smyth and Masterson then we have the nucleus of a very good and very young team going forward. It's a shame we have not recalled Smyth but that may have something to do with the "special relationship" between the two clubs and their league position.
Survival is key this season and we are well ahead of anywhere that most of us would have predicted. We will be in a lot better shape going forward into next season than most of this divison who are over budget and will miss out on the promised land, they cant all go up!

Not very inspiring to part with £33 for any of the remaining games but assume they’re taking the view we’re safe (I’m not so sure) and can’t get playoffs (pissed away so many opportunities in an awful league) so will be going for it more next season.

Do fear we’re an incredibly soft and light squad now with Leistner and Scowen. We were already far too nice. Think it’s 18 senior players now including three goalkeepers.
