If BFG goes......obviously a lot to do with him not hitting it off with MW we have a serious lack of experience throughout the team now with Wells and Scowen gone. Left with Cameron and Rangel and they cant play every match. Just hoping they have someone decent coming in.....and still the saga of Eze and BOS tomorrow......could have 30M in the bank and too late to buy anyone!!!!!!!

Loaning out BFG who clears so much in the air, and leaves us without a CB of that nature, seems crazy to me unless we have a replacement lined up. He is probably our best CB. Without an incoming CB we are left with Hall and Barbet who have serious recent injury issues, Masterson who is young and liable to lose form as MW was saying Tuesday, and an ageing Cameron who is suspended for the next 2, and is better in other positions than CB.

Up front we have only Hugill. Not overwhelmed by our Keepers either.

Really hope we do have some on the way in that have been kept quiet.

I agree that Wells is likely to disappoint at his new club unless they can provide the dozens of chances that our style under Warburton has created this season. Despite his energy and running (stemming from the fact that he really wanted to play for us to his credit) I still have more memories of his glaring misses than his goals TBH. The key point however, is that - unless Mlakar has not really been trying until now - Wells' departure leaves us without a natural goal scorer of any description in the squad. Clubs in that situation who also have a ludicrously porous back line are the ones you tend to find in the relegation zone most seasons. I'd like to think that Ferdinand and Hoos have something up their sleeves to cover this but it looks to me that the situation with Wells was unexpected so we may be in for a real struggle until the summer.
Hi Hoops fans - just thought I’d pop over and say hi - considering the rumour mill noise happening at the moment.
This post caught my eye in particular - now I’m not sure if any of you have watched our team of late (no reason why you should of course - unless we’re playing you) but we have a certain Nicolas Elliasson playing for us, who happens to be the top provider of assists in the Championship:

... with this in mind, IF the deal goes through, then Wells would have plenty of chances given to him on a plate. It’s our FINISHING that hasn’t been great since Afobe got injured. Of course, I don’t follow your team so Wells’s assists might be coming from multiple sources, but our creation of chances isn’t too bad. It’s just been frustrating to see top crosses and through balls being played with nobody getting on the end of them. Of course we ARE scoring goals, but we certainly are not scoring for fun, so I definitely think he’d get a few in our setup. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Looks like Spurs will not let Parrott go out on loan either
Plus the tweet from Das Bild that Cologne have put a bid in for Leistner. It is turning into an odd window

Who would have thought at Christmas we would not be talking about Eze or Manning going.
We would lose Nakhi and Scowen
And actually be worried that BOS and Leistner will go.

Incidentally Wells is actually part makeweight to get the City midfielder to go to Burnley, he too is having a medical at the current time. We were never in the hunt, it is nothing to do with us not offering enough. There was a "underlying" plan
In that case a very smart bit of PR by the club with their statement they were doing a they could to keep Wells. In truth that was Probably not very much!

I've expected Eze to go, but losing BOS would be a real blow. He could be the difference between staying in the Championship and dropping to the third tier imho

The wells thing was taken out of the clubs hand, they probably did try but when City came in that was it & couldn’t compete & don’t blame them.

We are scoring for fun......as you will find out on Saturday!

I’m genuinely astounded by the Leistner news. Just seems an awful decision even if someone else is coming in. Hall is ****e. Masterson is promising but unproven. That’s literally it for fit centre-halves.

Agree with you that our options there aren't appealing but MW probably feels with Barbet back, he's got 3 CB's, Wallace and Cameron as cover there too if desperate. We can replace Leinster in the Summer, he's your typical run of the mill head it and kick it CB, plenty of those about.

I'll expect us to amble over the finishing line picking up points where we can, won't be pretty.

Leistner gone because we couldnt guarantee him first team football.

Mmm, I like Toni, but I actually think he's our weakest centre back.
Agreed he is good in the air but his positioning is all over the shop.
Also agree that we will be very short of centre backs unless someone is lined up.
Surely we wouldn't have loaned him out if there's no one incoming?

Reality check here chaps.
We have Hall, Barbet and Masterson who are now all in front of him in the pecking order. If two are injured Cameron can play CB. 15k per week off the books!
If you had been told a week ago that Scowen and Leistner were going but BOS, Eze, Manning and Chair were all staying you would have been doing cartwheels!

The Jack Clarke signing still doesnt make sense though. Unless BOS goes tomorrow.

Totally agree yet again col. I have screamed at the tv this season over his positioning and losing his man. In my opinion, we looked dodgy as hell with him and hall together. Not a great loss to be fair. I like young Masterson and i rate Barbet. Hall is decent but not with leistner!

Again cant disagree with any of that

Everything I've seen this season tells me MW knows f*ck all about defending apart from repeatedly saying we give away soft goals, doesn't augur well for the remainder of the season...

Cameron is awful at centre back and Barbet is a n injury risk.
We need another centre back imo.
