Doesn't mean they're going to spend it on JDW.... he hasn't played for them yet and we know his failings... we've had good money for players in recent past and have spent little.
Spent plenty on wages though.
Before you jump down my throat.....before this season.

Hello! Hibs fan here, we are close to signing Jackson Irvine and I was curious as to how you would compare him to Greg Doherty who was with us last season.

Any feedback would be appreciated, good luck for the rest of the season

I think some on here were bigger fans than me tbf. His biggest issue with us was that he cost us £2m+ and he never looked like a player of that calibre or close. As with Doc, he's got a good engine but that's where the similarities end really. Personally, I feel that Greg is a significant upgrade for us, he's far better technically than Jackson and although when he left a few fans were disappointed, he's not been a miss at all this season for us. Jackson's good in the air too, he had a very good season at Burton where he scored 10, I seem to remember him playing just behind the striker and that appeared to suit him more.

I think it speaks volumes that he hasn't been able to get a championship club, there's significantly more money on offer in there but in the SPL, a similar level to League One, he won't do a bad job.

IMO not a bad signing for you, he always gives a 100%, lacks a bit technically, but makes up for it in endeavour.

I agree, IMO he is a similar mentality to Hector we had from Chelsea on loan, once his confidence drops he struggles.

Decent comparison that! I'm surprised we've even got a chance of getting a fee for him. I'd have let him go for nothing this Jan to get rid of his wages. If we can get £200k for him in the summer, that'd be pretty good going. Seen some people on twitter say we should be getting over £1m, laughable really, he's currently 5th choice CB for a L1 side. He's been decent in the past but miles off that now.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I was a big fan of Greg during his time with us and we apparently tried hard to get him in the summer but his priority was you guys. Jackson played for Ross County up here and beat us in a cup final a few years ago where he looked decent, but I hadn’t followed his progress since.

Thanks for the reply. What was the reason for him leaving you? Was it his decision or did the club not want to renew his contract?
Have you heard of our owners...?.... if you have it explains everything for you... having said that, in terms of commitment to the cause when we were in trouble he left us high and dry. Whether he and our captain taking the same stance led to our relegation who knows... but you get my point I'm sure.

He was vice captain. Along with our captain, he bailed out end of last season rather than sticking with us to see out the extended season. It didn't help our unsuccessful relegation battle. So, left with a bad taste in our mouths. But having the owners we have doesn't help, and who knows exactly what went on behind the scenes in the contract / extension discussions.
TBF, Irvine is a decent player, and, up until bailing out, gave pretty much his all. Docherty is a good prospect, Irvine is experienced and still a good age. Can't really compare. He could do well for you.
And he's got very nice hair (in fact, long hair never looked so good, so good, so good)

I think he was badly advised and threw the towel at a crucial time last season when we needed him most. Personally I liked him, always a goal in him too, runs all day, skillful, good in the air, but if anything a bit lightweight when a game gets a bit tasty. He was a fans favourite here for a long time with the terrace chant about his hair to the tune of Sweet Caroline. I liked it.
Lives locally to me and I know he has been keeping himself fit, has had a couple of trials, Sheff Weds were interested and he spent time at Oldham getting match fit.
He will be a good signing for you. Aussie International too.

Cheers mate. Sounds promising.

I see you guys are signing Jordan Flores. Made the Puskas award shortlist.

I see Alan Nixon on Twitter has tweeted about the possibl signing, he is usually pretty decent with his info.
