Spot on. Unless Wenger breaks the trend and plays him in a fast counter attacking formation, I can't see him working out for us. A strange signing from Wenger. There are more suitable players out there for us than Vardy.

Of our 3 top assests in Mahrez, Kante and Vardy I would say Vardy is the only 1 who wouldnt fit in with your style of play

The other 2 of destined for a top team and maybe thats why they will stay as next year or even now Barcelona or Real Madrid will come calling

While for Vardy with his age its a now or never for a big move. His value wont be this high again

Totally agree with this, plus in the last year or two we have changed our style of play, particularly against the better teams, we sat deep and counter attacked against Bayern, Barca and City at home. We just did not have the fire power up front at time to do that on a regular basis, i think Vardy will be brought in to give us a new dimension, and a different option so we can play different styles, so we are less predictable against some teams.

Yes it does otherwise Walcott would have smashed it for us this season. I can see Walcott moving elsewhere and scoring over 15 goals if the team and formation suits. Wenger has tried to play him on the wings which simply doesn't suit him and neither does our style of play. Give him a team like Leicester and he would do well.

As for Vardy we will see if he makes it or doesn't with us. It's hard to make an assessment on a one season player that plays in a totally different team and style to our own. I hope he proves me wrong.

I'd rather just allow Vardy and just pay the £20m in wages to Ibra for a couple of years. With Ibra you are guaranteed that he will smash over 25 goals in the Prem and also contribute heavily in the Champions league. He would also bring large amounts of revenue in shirt sales alone.

Walcott has never been a clinical finisher though and he just cannot play that lone CF role. When he's fit and on form he's a decent RWF, but Walcott's career seems to have stalled. He's never really pushed on from the level he was at when he was 22/23 years old. Also he doesn't seem to have the mentality to force his way into games, he lacks an aggression and is easily brushed off by defenders.

I agree that Vardy is a risky signing, but of the attributes listed above that Walcott lacks, Vardy has in abundance.

Ibra is a massive cock, but asides from that it looks like he's already made his mind up where he's going, which will probably be Man Utd.

If it had been the only time he done it at the highest level of course it would.I read that Vardy only scored 5 league goals in the 2014/15 season so that is where my concern comes from.You like me are old enough to remember when you bought Gary Birtles.

Yep, Birtles is a good comparison. What I will say is that last season Leicester were poor as a team and didn't create the chances, when they clicked Vardy started to perform.

Lee Chapman was a total donkey for us,then we sold him to dirty Leeds and he scored the goals to help them win the League in 1992.

My views are a little conflicted I must admit, when I first heard the news I was really excited - we were finally looking to solve one of our main issues (together with DM) before the transfer window has even opened! Incredible. As well as this we are looking to buy the form striker from the previous season for £20m which is nothing in comparison to what we expect to pay for a good striker.

However the reaction on the board has dampened my initial excitement (you miserable sods! ) and thinking about it more then it is a big risk for a 29 year old who has had one good season.

But I still think this is a good move, as long as it's looked as an upgrade on Theo (who I'd expect/maybe hope to move on now), Vardy is a much better finisher and a much better attacker than Theo, but also he still gives us the speed and different option to enable us to play on the counter/play over the top ect that Theo did. Vardy's good finishing should allow us to convert a much higher percentage of the chances created than last year. But we do need another attacker as well - my preference is Mikhitaryan, and there are rumours he has rejected a contract offer from Dortmund, and there are rumours that we are in for him.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare Vardy's last 2 seasons as wasn't he out on the wing for most of the previous one? He's always said he'd rather be central *cough* Theo *cough* but he appears to have actually taken his chance.

Assuming it goes through I'd be intrigued to see how Mesut and co utilise pace up front that can (hopefully) finish. I thought we were starting to look decent again when Danny returned but, as usual, his finishing isn't his strong point. This is a reasonable price for a quick forward with a good knowledge of the league and currently on great form. Can't say it's who I'd have gone for but I'm not b*tching. What I found most interesting was Giroud saying we were apparently in for 1 or 2 new strikers. Not only does that imply we've more to come but I think it really means the writing is on the wall for a few of our players.

... that was largely down to a combination of not being a first choice pick for Nigel Pearson and even when playing benn pushed wide left with Ulloa played through the centre (and, lord help me... Nugent) ... in contrast Ranieri started him through the middle from the first game of the season ... and the rest is history ...

... he is a real poacher and will score goals because he can finish ... but the comments about not suiting Arsenal's style of play are valid ... we were more than happy to concede possession with quick ball attempts to put him away because we only had to get the pass right two or 3 times and he would score ... can I really see that from your midfield? ... no I can't tbh ... and having sat in with your lot for the game this season can't imagine how the multitudes of whingers would handle cheap balls going to the opposition ...

I pray and hope he declines the offer and stays with you lot. If he has any sense he would do just that. Stay where he is, he has nothing to prove, he has won the Premier League, will be playing be Champions League, he is a club legend, gotten into the England Squad, basically can't do any wrong... Why throw all that away for a few extra grand and potentially get all the abuse if things don't go well at the Emirates. Fans are very fickle (particularly gooners)! If I was his adviser, I will be advising him to stay put.
Look at Walcott/Ox one minute they were the future of Arsenal, now they are almost like pariahs. He is out of form at Leicester, your lot will nurse him back to form, however at the Emirates, he would be booed and jeered.
