I'd say you're being harsh there.

I thought his contribution was usually decent (although rarely spectacular).

One of the better ones compared to 90% of the lame ducks that have formed a procession through our doors in recent years.
I assume we are now talking about OBZ who tried every match, was given a job.....to support Austin...and allow Austin to score.
I saw a pictorgram of where Austin scored his goals from....all but a couple were in the 18 yard box. Poachers goals made for him in part by OBZ

Anway I digress .......Welcome home Jamie

I am delighted Mackie is back. Exactly the sort of player I want to play for QPR. Will give everything, absolutely everything for the cause.

People refer to the fact that we have a policy of younger signings. Well we can't play 11 kids. They need guidance from senior pros like the Mackie's, Hill's etc.. To put a team of kids out there in the Championship would be suicide - look what happened to Fulham who did that in the early part of the season, and their academy is meant to be one of the better ones.

Dead right we can't play 11 kids, we need some experienced wise heads but not headless chicken type from Jamie or legless warrior with Clint. I hope the likes of Ned, Henry, Phillips, Fer and one or two still to be signed will provide that.

Interesting how the tide has turned on this thread since the start.
Well, there's no point repeating the same thing again and again just because a site like this gives you the opportunity to. I have no problem in being in a minority on this one.

The fact we haven't paid a fee for Mackie has made the situation better, handing him a 2 year deal with an option of a 3rd? Good business.

Have we signed the same player who perhaps showed his best form when with us? Time will tell.

If Mackie's relentless work rate upfront creates space for other creative players to get on the ball then we'll at least carry more of a threat in the final third.

I'd like to see us resolve the 'Number 10' position, I'd be surprised if Fer was with us at the start of the season and agree with Beth when she states let's get a bit of clarity on who are back 5 are going to be! (Including the GK in this)

Hes not a god like Jamie Mackie so we shouldn't get him in! In fact who needs Messi when we have Jamie! Just like the song "there's only one Jamie Mackie"!
We should have the whole team filled with Jamie's!
We must not say anything bad about Jamie otherwise the Jamie fan club will be after you!
They live in a Mackie 'wonderland'! And when he can't pass a ball 5 yards i don't want to hear anything said about him because we are nothing compared to Jamie!
So remember if you ever say anything about Jamie, you better make it good!:emoticon-0127-lipss

We are all aware of his flaws as a footballer but they are massively exaggerated and outweighed by the positives he brings to the team, squad and club as a whole.

Ramsey is known for his coaching. If Mackie can retain his effort and Ramsey can improve on his skill level, then what's not to like about this. No fee, he want to be here, already as an affinity with the fans, bags of experience at this level, I could keep going but I'm sure you all get the point I'm making.

Played footie with mate who knows Mackie as he is coaching a bit as my mates kids team in Surrey

Third hand but Mackie flew at the chance to play for us again as the club is the only club in his heart
My mate is a reading supporter so is disappointed that Mackie came to us
That says a lot IMO

The thing I'd say about Jamie is that if you watch his goals back, he likes to nutmeg the keeper. Personally I always think that shows two things. One, not panicking in front of goal. Two, not being intimidated by an on rushing keeper. Two things a lot of more skill full players are guilty of week in week out. (That's where is see the similarities you pointed out re. Austin. They are different styles but share that trait.)

Can't wait to show that to my husband who has always called Jamie 'fat boy'

Do you think he bought the smallest underpants he could find as he knew he was going to be filmed?

Have to agree with Beth here although don't like the tattoos

As for Jamie coming back to play football and not model underpants I am in the pleased to see him back camp.

He is like a well known fence paint 'does exactly what it says on the tin' and on any given day he can score a goal like at City!
