Has to be said he’s playing very well. Hes developed into a handy winger. Maybe we don’t desperately need to replace him after all.
Next season.. Don't get me wrong I think Murphy has surprised, but this is probably a purple patch and he'll be ideal as a back up and rotation purposes.
Chaos being wrong again. Hardly noteworthy, cam we not make/bump threads every time that happens or we'll not have room for anything else.
The way to look at this is we only need one rw player and not 2. The situation next season involves having a second string that can win any game.
He's having a purple patch. I'd still want us to sign better in Summer. Remember he'll be 30 going on 31 soon.
Anyone thinking otherwise is the same type that thought fabrice pancrates was the answer. Murphy has actually proved everyone wrong though and he's definitely good enough to get games here next season and beyond.
Personally think he should be sold. If we sign a starting right winger, Murphy coming on as a sub won't make any impact at all
Who else would you use there? Ideally they need at least 2 that can produce the goods and Murphy can do that. It would appear he's also a great lad and pro, so it would cost a packet to replace him.
Agree - sell while his price is high this summer, someone like Wolves, Everton, Palace will see some value in him and we could get a few million in for him before he tails off and loses his pace and value. Roony Bardghji is on a free this summer and then we all agree we need a RW anyway so spend a wedge on a winger and replace Murphy (use murphy money and wages to offset against a better winger) with a young and upcoming winger on a free as back up.
Well we have at least 2 youth players with one ready to step up. Murphy has 5 minutes per game out of 90 where he looks quality. An impact sub he is not.
I think they could make an impact from the bench. Even in this long purple patch, Murphy is still very poor three majority of the game so not sure how he'd suddenly be able to turn it on from the bench
