The agent of Napoli midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has stated that the Dutch international could be returning to the Premier League on loan with Sunderland with Marseille also interested, as reported by Radio Kiss Kiss via ESPN FC.
The 27-year-old moved to Naples last season but failed to make a real impact at the Serie A side, playing just 23 matches (12 of those were starts) and scoring only three league goals.
The report indicates that he would like to move away from the San Paolo and his representative, Fabian Parisi, has weighed into the matter saying that a deal could be close for the star.
“It’s true there’s an agreement for the player to go on loan with a purchase option included for the English club, but we are all working towards finding a solution for De Guzman, who is not in the plans of [Napoli coach Maurizio] Sarri for this season.
“Sunderland is there and so is Marseille and there are other options. We will choose the best option for us and for Napoli. Jonathan is an attractive player in the transfer market and we will need a few more days to decide,” Parisi is quoted as saying in the source.
De Guzman is still under contract with Napoli for another three seasons, but he could be a wise investment for the Black Cats given his previous Premier League pedigree with Swansea City, where he created 59 chances in the 12/13 season and won the League Cup.

Well I agree he is hoping for better options another Borini and we can't afford to wait FFS Ellis's do you realise the cost of relegation get your cheque book out for Austin Dembelle and a LB or you will be in the championship with a half full stadium possibly playing Mk Dons instead of Man Utd and Man City

Relegation, in reality, wouldn't cost us as much as most think - we lose 45% of the TV revenue and our wages would come down significantly as players have clauses in their contracts to that end. OK so we have a lot less money coming in but we also have a lot less going out as operating costs would drop for a Championship club too.
I'm not, in any way, saying I want us to go down or it'd be a good thing to go down, but it certainly wouldn't cost us £80m that most are saying it would!
Ha ha well monty is a good bloke if he thinks like me I'm thinking more along the lines of the value of the club for short if we got relegated easier to sell a premier league club than a championship one
