You're in the minority of liking Peter Drury then NFU. Even ITV are having second thoughts about him and have decided not to renew his contract with them (although he may still get work as a free-lance). Yes Peter Drury did go to Hull Uni and went to alot of games at Boothferry Park when he was here.

Another Hull link is Rob Hawthorne for Sky. He used to work for Radio Humberside and now is Sky's second rank commentator behind the legendary Martin Tyler.

My brother met Rob Palmer from Sky at the bar in our hotel in Wembley before the play off final.

Chatted to him for a bit, he confirmed he is from Hull and a Hull City supporter.

Nice to know.

Ah yes, Rob Palmer another one. He is Sky's lead La Liga commentator and a regular reporter on Gillette Soccer Saturday.

He covered Jeff Stelling in the presenting role of that programme once last season and it happened to be the night we travelled to (and destroyed) Cardiff. He had great delight in hearing the score line each time it increased and at one point said tongue-in-cheek, "As you would expect, there is no bias from this presenter unlike another on this programme" (referring to Jeff Stelling's support of Hartlepool). [Words to that effect anyways].

And NFU, how can you not like Tyler? His recent commentaries of Man City Vs QPR and Bayern Munich Vs Chelsea were both excellent and he is far and away the best commentator in the country at the minute.

Drury and Beglin would be a highly listenable combo as I also agree regarding Beglin.

He talks a fair bit of sense does the fella.

Have you not watched ITV at all this past season? :emoticon-0103-cool:

Drury and Beglin have commentated together several times over the last season on FA Cup and Champions League games. They were together last night too for Russia Vs Czech Republic.

Didn't see the game last night( working)and due having a life don't watch every game on TV.

That might explain my obvious lack of knowledge in this field.

Chiles is probably a nice guy, but as a football presenter he's just **** and his head just looks wrong.

Bring back Elton Welsby!

Is he the same bloke that Harry Redknapp told to **** off after simply stating he hasn't been that busy in the transfer market

They will be together again on the Rep of Ireland/Croatia game tomorrow my sources tell me - if you can catch that?

Yes Kilbane was speaking to Damian Johnson on MOTD live after the Portugal Vs Germany game.

I like Drury, maybe bias from the Hull connection, Beglin is good in my opinion

Beglin is the co-commentator on PES (to anyone who doesn't know, it's a football console game like FIFA, but less popular) and his comments on that game drive me insane. I don't understand why they get good commentators to say such stupid things when they must know when they are recording it that it is utter bollocks. I wish I had an example now but I can't think of anything, it's just generally inappropriate and nonsensical stuff.

I've played PES 2012 believe it or not, to be fair the commentary on that game is utter ****e, one thing about Fifa is there is a wide range of commentaries, I'm not into football games right now but used to play Fifa with the German commentators on

I generally don't like FIFA, but the commenary makes PES look utter ****e. There are loads of long conversations about specific clubs and players whereas PES just goes on about teacups being thrown by 'the manager' at half time regardless of the way the game has gone.

PES is actually a more playable game but sometimes you can see where its lacked the resources of FIFA- am torn whether to get FIFA or PES later in the year as I heard PES has innovated the shooting system which should make it even better, i find FIFA to be a bit too wooden and not as fun to play usually

You don't need to convince me. I'm part of the minority that prefers the fluidity of PES to the licenses and realism of FIFA. That said, if you're excited about the new shooting on PES you'll be disappointed. The ability to put the ball where ypu want in the goal and the corners are hardly ever hit, even when you think you've scored an ace goal you check the replay and it turns out to have been more or less central. One on ones are just a lottery.
