Wasn't it under Rafa that UEFA had to tear up the rule book because never before did a Club win the CL that didn't qualify for the following season's competition because they were so sh*t domestically?

It's understandable really. Di Matteo is a very likeable guy who gave Chelsea fans the best day of their lives and they'd have liked him to have a chance to turn it around. He probably wouldn't have done but he deserved more than getting the boot after a handful of poor results.
