I think the point here is that if PP had taken training it would have leaked by now to the extent that the bookies would have suspended betting rather than take a hammering. The fact that they're offering odds at all suggests that at least there's still some doubt

Not just offering odds but lengthening them.
Ainsworths odds are plummeting on Betfair at the moment

That’s what I mean by rumours, bookies don’t loose lots of money for a reason.

Anything is possible and shouldnt ne discounted.
With the backlash from fans over possible managerial choices and the snail paced takeover maybe he could be being mischievous.
