The main reaction from opposing teams supporters when we beat them is " how could we lose to them , its only Hull " . A presenter on Talksport this week said when Southend drew us at home in the FA Cup it was a disappointing draw for them even though we are a Premier League team.
With the squad and the manager we have now which is easily the best in our history when will opposing clubs realise that were not actually that bad or will this view of our club always be with us.
 
It was great when we beat sunderland Twice..

Will be even better when we knock them out of the cup .

And even better when such a HUGE club like Sunderland go down ..and little Hull City stay up.

It just everyones general view of Hull, football team and city. We have always been seen as nobodies. But I think the tide is turning exposure by our team and city of culture win is opening peoples eyes. Lets hope it continues.
( Especially with Hull City Football Club)

Don't forget we saw off the Luftwaffe and are currently rescuing the failed City of London economy with our financial aid.

All that "little ol' Hull City" stuff doesn't sit well with me.

The Luftwaffe weren't seen off by Hull. They bombed it, though not as heavily as their cities were bombed or cities in other European countries. All of who managed to rebuild before Hull did.

Sunderland are a bigger club than us, both in terms of history and support.

I'm not suggesting there was a Hull Air Force whose firepower and skill defeated the krauts.

I'm advancing the notion that they dropped their **** on us and buckle we did not.
 
The one thing I have noticed for many years is that Hull is a non place if that's the word, or two, as far as the rest of the country is concerned and especially as far as London is concerned, we just don't exist. Politically it didn't matter we returned Labour candidates year after a year, a safe Labour seat. The only time I can remember us being remotely important was a by election many years ago before the Humber Bridge was built but the result of this by election was crucial to the then Labour government. Barbara Castle came to Hull and promised us the Humber Bridge, what she didn't promise us or say was the buts and ifs that went along with the building of the bridge but the promise had its desired effect and Labour had an overall majority in parliament after Hull returned a Labour candidate yet again, so why should anyone bother with us? I have seen Leeds grown from a sh*thole of a place in the 1950's to a place connected by a major motorway whilst Hull's motorway stops at Gilberdyke, we are not even worth the money to take right into Hull.

I don't need to remind you that nothing gets done in Hull, plenty of stuff gets attention but not actually done, we have so many derelict areas you would think that the Luftwaffe have only just flew over. L.A.s that was Mecca call it what you will is an empty space, the old shops on Ferensway are now an empty space, Edwin Davis's store still derelict, Siemens well no comment. Don't blame it all on local contractors the money just isn't there because its Hull, a chip on my shoulder, no just experience over many years of disappointment of many promises about the regeneration of Hull that never happened. We have an uphill struggle to improve the image of Hull and we have never done very well in that area, we know our faults, but not many people praise our good points of which there are still a few. I read comments from so call Hull people saying what a shi*hole this place is, not just on this forum but many others I look at, Blogger and Wordpress, if our own people can't say positive things then what chance do we have?

I visited Beethoven's house in Bonn a few years ago and the guide started to criticise the RAFs blanket bombing policy which destroyed much of the surrounding area. I did a Basil Fawlty 'you started it' speech by describing what my hometown looked like as I was growing up. She didn't really appreciate it and held a grudge against me for the rest of the tour. Eventually telling me off for touching one of Ludwig Van's ear trumpets!


In terms of rebuilding Germany, the Museum of Modern German History in Bonn is brilliant. When you look at that country in 1946 and how it was rebuilt over the next 30 years it really is awe inspiring.

That's a great point- and most of these people are obese unkempt LFC/LUFC fans on jobseekers.

If encountered, suggest 'If it's so **** why don't you ****ing move to somewhere you do like then?'

Just seems ironic that we are now pinning our hopes on a German firm to start the regeneration of Hull, well that's the theory. For the record I have been to Germany on a few occasions and have been welcomed despite my English nationality.
