I think my view on football changed in "that" summer where everyone left. Before I would've been more like FLT and got attached to players and been super supportive of all of them. Now I am massively more disenchanted and realistic (to all the positive people read cynical), any player who is happy to be here is probably not good enough for what we supposedly want to achieve and any player who is good enough will go after 2/3 years max. This is fine, I've accepted our lot, a midtable side who will go on the odd European tour, have a few "boring" seasons where the season is effectively over by February, and the odd bad one where we flirt with relegation, probably eventually going down, hopefully not for a few years anyway. In the mean time I'm hoping that with our reputation of selling players we can attract a few players far better than our station who are trying to use us as a stepping stone as it is the only way we would get them in the first place. At least we get to enjoy watching them regularly for a couple of years which is more than most clubs our size can say
Yep, makes me cringe with all the tweets and social media love in stuff that goes on these days because I am now far too cynical to believe any of it is anything more than self promotion to maintain the player's brand.
Of course I believe that they are disappointed to lose and that they are happy to win but I don;t believe a word of the "feel sorry for the fans" or "made up for the fans."
Even the "Big thank you to the fans who were superb." translates to e as "buy my name on the shirt so I earn image rights."
Like I said. Love the badge, hate the Prem and modern football and the whole bubble it lives in.
