I can't see anything less than relegation now. Maybe pick up a couple of points along the way and cant see us finishing rock bottom but just cant see any hope for survival. Wolves tomorrow are going to destroy us, then we see West Ham come to the CCS with many of their star players.. It's just not feasible. We are shipping goals like they are going out of fashion and not scoring many in return.

If we can keep our players from this season for next season then there is no reason why we can't have a decent season in the Championship next year, but for now, I think our top flight adventure will come to an end come May.. But what a bloody season it's been either way!

I don’t really want to be thinking of a relegation and then next season but personally I’d like to see a different style of player and management. Let’s be honest we played some attritional stuff last season but whilst it got the job done, it didn’t set the pulse racing.

Not since Dave Jones’ time have we seen positive football with goals aplenty.

But that’s for another day, let’s see if we can defy the odds and stay up:emoticon-0148-yes:

In answer to the question the answer is probably yes. For the simple reason - the make up of the squad. A championship squad in all but name has now been found out. 3 mid table teams have crushed us in a row; the difference in quality, pace and strength is so stark.
It’s a miracle the team has still a theoretical chance of staying up.

The minute we haven't he should be replaced. It would be the Championship next season and we need a new direction at the club.

This may sound ungrateful and controversial, but sorry to say I really don't want to see Neil here again next season whether we're still up here or drop.

I wouldn't give him £50M parachute money next year given his track record with signings since he's been here.

I can’t disagree. This is all but the championship team which went up and the way they’re performing at present they’d be in a relegation scrap to avoid a drop to League One.
Warnock has done amazingly in his time here but listening to his post match interview yesterday he gives the impression the games up. Blaming the players and the referees cannot disguise the fact that he assembled a squad which had been up till last week punching well above it’s weight but is now all but knocked out.
There may be a great escape around the corner but with 4 of the top 6 yet to play it’s illusory to think the club can survive.
Which as you suggest should indicate the end of his time here; he can’t be in charge next season.

Warnock may take you down but in name only, The players are the ones that will take you down in reality for not trying harder....It is to early to say who will join Hudders and Fulham who imo have already filled two of the places but Cardiff still has a chance, Many teams have been in your position and survived by really trying and putting their bodies on the line in a $hit or bust mentality. Don't admit defeat and get down the stadium and away matches if you can and give the players plenty noise and support and show Warnock you are with him in the belief of staying up......It maybe hard but not impossible.....Good luck....

Apart from trying harder i agree with you.
We will probably go down but its not an impossible position.

We won 2 games on the spin with virtually the same team but our manager thought best to change it and try different personnel and tactics/formation which was unnecessary and has cost us big time.

On paper it’s possible but in reality given 4 of the top 6 are on the horizon it is highly unlikely. It means in effect City will have to win at home against WHU and Palace and BHA and Fulham or Burnley away.

It would have been so different had we not squandered points versus Huddersfield and Burnley; we all said at the time we’d rue those games.

I'll throw a curved ball in here - I still reckon Burnley could blow this. They've had a bit of a revival recently but they are as poor a side as us. Beating Spurs up there a couple of weeks back seemed to make everyone think they'd be OK, but I'm not so sure.

They lost to Palace at home on the weekend, and looking at their remaining fixtures, they've got some tasty games to come. Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal amongst them - as well as us. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm so pleased that everyone remains appreciative of the remarkable job NW has done for our club. My memory goes back to the days of George Swindin ( though I first started watching when Bill Jones was at the helm) and I can't think of a manager who has had such a positive impact. Yes, I know we had some amazing european adventures, but they were highlights in the seasons of failed promotion attempts. Other than keeping us in the Championship and subsequently getting us out of it, NW has changed the whole feeling at the club and has given us belief that we are a proper football club again. In a world where money decides so much in football, it was good to support a club that didn't try and buy success. It would be such a shame if he went out on a relegation.

That said, I fear relegation is the outcome that awaits us and I also think NW will resign no matter which way it goes. It's been a traumatic season for him and I believe it's taken it's toll both emotionally and physically.

Looking at our remaining games, I'm wondering where the points will come from. Even Fulham showed they can play a bit yesterday so that game won't be easy. With the Saints also showing a vast improvement, I don't think we can catch them. Obviously I hope I'm wrong.

I think I'm in a similar place to many on here. I don't want to forget what NW has achieved but I also think that given the foundations he's built, it's time for us to look at overhauling our game and start to develop a style.

The first part of your post was very fair and I can't think of anybody who'd disagree.

However, it's your last sentence that is really on the money and agree totally.

In all honesty, I'd like us to survive this season , almost for NW's sake. I'd then happily take the drop next season......there does seem to be more fun in the Championship to go along with the frustration. Maybe drop and find a young manager who will build the style and overall club stature. I'm not hugely happy wi9th predicting losses and draws each week.

After the last 3 totally inept performances i am more than a bit disillusioned at the moment, however an opportunistic win against the Alf Garnett's on Saturday and the mood will lift. Watford i could stomach, but Everton were a pretty ordinary side, if Ken had tucked away his gilt edged chance in the first few minutes it would probably been a different result, but the comedy defending against Wolves was awful. Yes agree but looking at the future, there are still ongoing concerns about the lack of talent coming from within. Where are all the homegrown stars of tomorrow?

    1. Are they being missed when young and let go or 2. are the coaches not good enough to turn them into decent prospects or 3. are they being snapped up by other clubs?

Our survival hopes have taken a huge knock with Bamba being ruled out for the rest of the season.

Yeh agreed. He had been an absolute rock at times (even if he is prone to the odd howler) Embodies all that Warnock is trying to achieve.

How will Morrison and Manga fair as a partnership? Neither massively quick but Bruno definitely better in the centre!

Very valid point Nin, but first things first and that's the here and now. <ok>

We just must take all 3 points off West Ham - if we fail it could be goodnight Vienna - and I'm not talking about Rigsby's cat. Big ask after the recent rubbish performances, but we have to go for it now. Despite taking zero points from our last three disastrous games, it's still far too close to call for that 3rd place on the trap door - Udders and Fulham look to have had it.

The 4 teams above us are no great shakes and at least one of them can be caught. Newcastle should have enough in the tank with Benitez at the helm to steer clear, but even they can be dodgy on times.

Most might see Southampton as the obvious relegation "opposition" because they're just above us and that's fair enough, but I don't rate Burnley and think they're well in the frame to blow it.

Brighton look to have the easiest run in but they were very lucky to beat Huddersfield last weekend and are in generally poor form - anything could happen to them.

Still wide open and 3 points on Saturday will put the angst over the last three games to bed and maybe we can start believing again. We need this ahead of the Chelsea and Man City games that nobody expects anything but two thrashings for us.
