I totally agree with all you've written on this thread, it is embarrassing. It needs to be raised again because the amount of early leavers yesterday was truly pathetic. Sadly, I'm not surprised there are some who try to justify or excuse it. The "In this day and age, people should do what they want to" attitude just about sums up these inconsiderate idiots.
 
Agree with everything saintadam has said on this thread. It really is pathetic to see thousands of empty seats in the late minutes of games that we have played so well in. Everyone should be savouring this moment!! Its quite embarrassing tbh.
 
There is an old man who walks with a stick who sits near me and he struggles to walk down the steps. Every game he and his wife sit and patiently wait for the ground to empty before he attempts to walk down.

This is a man who loves his football and Southampton and wouldn't want to miss a single moment.
 
Yep,i think everyone has a right to leave early and they don't have to answer to anybody but for the sake of 10 minutes here or there i can't see the harm in staying to applaud your team off the pitch! I think it's a real sad sight when i see people leaving and i know they earn lots of money but i feel for the players who have gave us nothing but good times over the last couple of years.Oh well what can we do!

Is your display name supposed to be ironic?
 
If people want to leave early i suppose it is up to them,but i had a group of lads who came in at 3.05, one of them went out again at 3.25,came back in at 3.30 then the whole group disappeared at 3.40.
They then reappeared a few minutes after the second half kicked off,the same lad as the first half went out again at 4.30,then came back 5 minutes later,then they left at least 5 minutes before the end,when the fire drill chant started.
My worry is i have the same seats for the Pompey match,and if i am sat near them again i am likely to lay one of them out.
I currently have a pulled muscle in my leg,so every time i had to stand up it was bloody painful,so if you were sat in the Kingsland yesterday,and was wearing a green hoodie,please dont piss me off next week.
 
Sadly, they have a right to leave early, just as they have to arrive late, or go to the concourse during the match. Or even to get up and go to the loo a half a dozen times during the game. That is the society we live in. True, I still don't like it...but that is life as they say. I have spoken to some of the players about this recently. I asked them if it bothered them as one of them said....."to be honest we are some times too busy to notice people leaving" "We just concentrate on what we do......If we get a stoppage we might" "No it doesn't bother us in the main......they pays their money......" "When the crowd gets on one of our backs, now that's a different story!"

I don't think any truly passionate supporter believes that.

And people who want to, have the right to see the whole game without having their view blocked by a constant stream of early leavers and piss heads throughout the game. After all, they pay their money to watch all of it.

Yes quite likely a few have pressing reasons for leaving early but there were hundreds going. Maybe instead of beating the rush, they could show some appreciation to the team and consideration to those around them.

I know all this will fall on deaf ears because people who act like that consider it "their right" to do what they want and sod everyone else. You may defend their rights but I still say they are inconsiderate, unappreciative idiots. We are getting towards the end of a season where the team are on the point of acheiving more than any of us thought possible. A season more exciting than most people can remember yet all they can think about is beating the rush. It would be a little more understandable if the season was crap.

Kids today have an attention span measured in nanoseconds.

The men who leave early are all in a rush to get home as they have only been allowed to go to the match by wifey provided they aren't late home. They'll get hen pecked if they are late. I just laugh at them. How sad to let someone else dominate your life. Spineless is what they are.

Football is a game. Anyone who believes it is more than that needs more going on in their life. Granted, it is the best game ever invented, but it is a game nonetheless and should not be taken too seriously. The reason I love football so much is that it provides a break from all the serious things in life, and I can sit down on a weekend and enjoy some fun and utterly pointless entertainment.

And no, technically they don't pay to watch all of it, they pay to get in.

That Hugh Fisher equaliser in 1976 taught me a lesson, it was probably the first and only time that I started to walk out early, nearly got killed in the rush to get back in after Hughie scored, never again, I stay to the end whatever the circumstances, even a fire drill, because with that Tannoy in the Kingsland you would never know there was one! How about a poll about who does and why and who doesn't, it might clear a few things up?

The internet has made it so that we basically don't have to focus on anything for extended periods of time, because we can access information so quickly. In 60 years time we're going to have a generation of extremely lazy, overweight, but well informed elderly. I keep my mind working by taking an interest in politics and playing musical instruments, but I fear for the millions of people who spend all their waking hours playing WOW or COD or whatever else is popular.

As for the "whipped" men you speak of, it is one of my greatest fears that I'll end up like that. If I ever find myself being told where to be and when, living on someone else's schedule, I hope I'll have the balls to make the necessary changes.

Are you sure that's right? I bought my tickets to watch footy not to use the facilities.

Joe, don't you ever get excited, annoyed, frustrated or any of the other usual emotions at a game? Do you let Saints results affect your mood? I know I do and I have a full and enjoyable life. Football is part of it.

Yes, all of the above. I also get excited, annoyed and frustrated when I play the traditional game of Scrabble with my family on Christmas day. It's still no more than just a game.
