That must have been when Branfoot was our manager Fran. I often used to fall asleep during games at that time.

This is why I don't post on these boards as much as I'd like to: threads like these. Your assuming that everyone is leaving for the same reason, that your opinion of what time to leave and come back is right. Your not looking at the whole picture and the context in why people are leaving. Yesterday, I went to football with my grandad who understandably isn't as fit or strong as he used to be. We go down 5 mind early before half time so he can go down the steps easily. We leave early because he's cold, and wants to beat the crowd of people. How is this a bad thing?

What about people that work? People that need to be somewhere? People in my situation? With kids? With people at home they need to be with? People that come to the football as a day out with friends rather than solely for the football? The people that have paid £20+ to these players ridiculous wages and don't want to watch 5 mins of scrappy football at the end so they can get back to their families and have dinner?

Have some common sense and remember that you aren't the 'perfect supporter' and you have no idea about other people...

People aren't so naive to not know that some people have legit reasons to go early but there are quite a few people who leave early for stupid reasons and these are the people most of us are moaning about! It's not on and i just don't understand how a passionate saints fan can leave before the end.

In this day and age, people should do what they want to. There could many a good reason that people leave early?, who are you lot to have a go at them. Before anyone says it I never leave early, end of the day it is up to them if they leave early or not.

    It dosn't concern, so I don't really give a ****.

I'm not one to slag people off for leaving early but common sense will tell you that these threads aren't directed at people like you who have genuine excuses - just like threads about people who can't be bothered to go to games aren't directed at the poor, sick, old or distant. The thread is clearly at the people who can't be arsed having the extra ten minutes in traffic - not a great excuse but honestly I couldn't care less.

It concerns me when with ten minutes left people start streaming down the stairs no matter what the score is! If i was a player i'd be just a bit ****ed offf with it to be honest! cannot be good for concentration either.

To be honest the players should be watching the pitch not the stands. I stay til the final whistle coz my nipper likes having photos taken at the end. plus anything can happen in the final minutes

Should be watching the pitch yes but you've gotta be totally blind to not notice the streams of people leaving. They're only human!

It's their jobs to play football, they get paid a hell of alot of money for it to. A few hundred fans leaving early shouldn't effect them at all. If it do's effect them they are in the wrong job. Fans spend their hard earned cash to watch them play, so can leave early if they wish.

That's the important message, for everyone, in your post. For example, according to early leavers, not necessarily Saints, Millwall won the match 2-1 last week. Everton and Bent didn't equalise a few years ago. Saints and Fernandes didn't equalise against Everton a few years earlier, and Beattie didn't get a 50p header to win against ManU. These are just random goals, involving Saints, scored in the last 10 minutes of a match, and there have been plenty others.

And crucially missed by a select few.

I don't leave if we're winning because I want to applaud and I don't leave if we're drawing or losing because they might need me to blow the ball into the net. If we were losing 4.0 (hard to imagine I know) I'd still stick to my seat because we're all in it together. I stayed at the Dell in the evening matches even though I had to run for the ferry and possibly miss it. In those days, the last ferry left earlier than it does now. If the only people who left early were those with valid reasons i.e. last night train, relieving a partner to get to work etc, it probably wouldn't amount to anywhere near the number who leave now.
Hate bibbing and bobbing up and down to let them out when trying to watch the match. There was nearly a punch up near me last time I went because one bloke refused to move yet again. I did that once a few years ago...stood up to applaud a goal and then refused to let someone squeeze by...made them wait for me (and that's not like me at all).

I'm sorry but i'm one of the people who actually still believes that even though a footballer earns good money it doesn't make him a bloody robot without no feelings or thoughts.I really hate when people say 'he earns thousands so he shoud just get on with it' That's just an ignorant and narrow minded way to look at things in my opinion.Do you like it when you look around on the 80 minute mark and you see thousands of people leaving? i think it's an awful sight and quite embarrassing.

It's a fact of life, people are different. We all do our own thing, like the people that keep moaning about people leaving early. How many threads on this issue has there been now?, has it changed?. Nope it hasn't so we will just have to accept it.

As I said earlier it dosn't bother me at all, the only thing that bothers me is the children. The ones that get up every 10 mins to go get yet another snack or drink.

No nothings gonna change it but there's no harm in talking about it! if we went on your theory that nothings gonna change just cos we're talking about it then these forums would be empty!

Well that's good for you but when i see it i get quite agitated by it! just think it's a strange trait for people to leave early when their team is performing so well at the moment.

It happens at every game and stadium no matter how big the game. As said earlier there are lots of reasons why people feel the need to leave early.

I agree, I would never leave early. But people aren't sheep, so all do their own things. I tend just to see it as how do I know why they are leaving early?. Could be many reasons, some people may see these reasons as petty but obviously they don't. But who are we to judge?, end of the day each to their own.

Used to do to avoid the National Anthem, not out of disrespect, just wanted a seat on the bus.
