Agreed that Bayern are a different kettle of fish, but you guys haven't really clicked throughout the season and its no coincidence that with Rooney not in the hole (ball hogging, not passing it off quickly like Mata or Kagawa do) that you guys look far more slicker and are creating far more chances. I'm not sure that Rooney worked that hard (certainly in the second half) and what he gave last night apart from those 2 decent opportunities that he fluffed.
If the question is, Which Premier League footballer will be on 300K a week until he is 33? then yes, Rooney is the answer
100% agree with this. I also agree with the notion that Mata should be No.10. Yes, he should, with Rooney at nine. If anyone is to leave then it's RVP, not Rooney. To suggest he'll be sold this summer is nonsense. He's our best striker and not one other club on earth would pick up his salary plus transfer fee so it isn't going to happen.
like i said, every season that Rooney has been the best player at the club utd have never won a single trophy
Apart from the league in 2010-11, not that it's even remotely relevant. We didn't win much with Ruud van Nistelrooy but would you sell him? No, because he was brilliant. Same story here.
Rooney was out of sorts in 2010/2011 when he wanted to leave the club so he was not the best player that season and by the way Ronaldo became the best player at utd after Ruud was sold so in essence you could argue that ruud's presence held him back
If the intention was to sell him, giving him £300k per week isn't going to help in that goal. He's going to have little desire to leave to another club that is only willing to pay... oh I don't know, £200k per week. [How many clubs will be willing to pay more than that for him after this season]. Who is going to make a bid for him whilst he is on that kind of wage? I personally think Rooney is a very good player- but you can get equal players that will demand half the wage [and that £8million per year could be invested elsewhere]. It would have made more sense to sell Rooney. The reason Rooney wasn't sold is as a figurehead. His name/face is probably the most recognizable overseas of the current players. For that reason he may be worth more to United than he would be for any other club.
Maybe i might but there is no arguing the fact that After Ruud left CR7 became the best player at utd and the rest as they say is history and whether you like it or not Rooney was irrelevant for most of the 2010/2011 championship season
While I don't believe Rooney is 'world class' he is a excellent player, who will run through walls all day. Yes he fluffed his lines last night, but I'm not sure that would have changed the outcome. I think Kagawa and Mata are technically better players, and better suited to the number 10 role, but what Rooney lacks in technical ability he makes up with effort, especially defensively. Maybe the future could be Welbeck or RVP up front and Rooney, Mata and Kawaga behind and two midfielders. There should be enough creativity and movement from the front four to cause plenty of problems. It would also be fairly fluid as Welbeck could go out wide and Rooney up front, with Kagawa and Mata running beyond the CF, which something Utd has lacked this season.
Well instead of being abusive, argue why he talks utter ****e (which you obviously can't). Good mods promote discussion rather than abuse and asinine name-calling on their board Rooney is a great player but Marc presents an interesting, if slightly flawed case
I agree - He's called Ronaldo not ****ing CR7. He's not a robot FFS. Bit like calling Suarez LS7 or Messi LM10 etc etc.
Good mods to me are mods that carry on their usual method of posting once becoming a mod - rather than change character and become some ego freak #gerrez Ruff was picked to be a mod for good reasons (only 3 other Utd members on the board)
Negative SK5 We have enough already at SB, that's the way Jose likes players, hence he sold JM8 to MU20
