So anyway, I was feeling unnaturally tired a couple of weeks ago. Not poorly, just really sleepy, even at work. I'm not one for going to the Doctor (an actual Dr, obvs), but I could tell I wasn't right. So along with a few other tests, the nurse did my bloods. They rang me at work today to ask me to go back and get further bloods. Apparently the bloods showed ALT. WTF is that? I cried. As it turns out, my liver could be in some sort of bother (I hate liver. Iv'e never eaten it, but I know It's disgusting) and now it seems my liver hates me. Now everybody knows you shouldn't google medical, so I thought I'd be off better asking my cyber buddies on here. Quite worried if I'm honest. I do drink way too much...
It's something secreted by your liver - since my MI, 8 years ago I've had blood tests to check my tablets are working OK, occasionally my ALT is slightly elevated, my Doc does another test and it's back to normal. Get quaffing plenty of water mate.
I'd stop drinking immediately as the liver can repair itself if given chance. Then take the medical advice given.
My Gp says It's a a bad idea to suddenly stop drinking alcohol, but that's what I feel like doing. you have to trust your Doc.
I haven't had alcohol since my heart attack last June, I stopped drinking and smoking as soon as I left Castle Hill. I can't drink because of my meds, I take 17 tabs a day for life but it hasn't harmed me not drinking.
Just to cut down slowly, really. Iv'e cut out the Vodka and Whiskey, altogether and limit myself to maybe three beers a day for now.
Hope you’re alright, Kemp. My dad has something going on with his liver. Docs told him to drink less and not move around eating (he always has working lunches). Not sure how the latter helps. He was sleeping a lot, often tired. Definitely avoid Google. Two clicks away from being told your arm will fall off or your head explode.
Could you consume like, liqueur chocolates and brandy laced stroganoffs to help ease you into not drinking?
