Jesus, after one win against our ****ty little defense?! You're suppose to be a big club. Sad little man is accurate.
I certainly feel like giving this place a wide berth for a while. There's no scope for actual discussion. Too many with a single-minded agenda.
Where did I say we were a big club? #fail Seems like fate we'd wallop you boys... Only your fans could count our goals on one hand
I think it's all a bit crazy, Warky is right our traffic has dropped with the binners general absence and without a common enemy we have been infighting a lot more. The political thread has got a lot of backs up, but I always think if you don't enjoy a thread ignore it and stick to the footy ones. Yes people seem to be passing judgement on others and flinging the odd stone but it is just a forum of a**holes, oops opinions! And people with generally thin skin will always struggle. Not saying some of the attempts to belittle others is right, but fight your corner, ignore the buggers or the thread and try and enjoy the rest of the footy stuff. Bah!
I didn't say that you did. It's just the thing all your fans think. That's why you hound our really good managers and have to recruit ones like the wolly.
Anyway, back to the OP... You're not alone KIO, it definitely feels both quieter and more fractious around here. Being busy at work has cut down on the time I can spend on here anyway, but when you log on to find 50% debate, 50% snide remarks, other distractions become more tempting. Going forwards, I'm short on ideas. A general agreement to end the mud throwing for a while might be a nice start. Disagree with the points made not the person making them.
I don't see or even hear many games but this forum is a bit, well more than that really, it is a home for me to read the witty Norfolkesk options of my brothers while in a far flung land and give me a basis about the team and how we are doing. I think the political thread has caused difficulties which is sad. But it's better to be able to say it than not. Where I live to say what is said on that thread would result in instant death. It's a privilege to be able to say those things and Norfolk people like to give their opinion because they are right. Every regular who posts on here should be proud of this site. I am.
KIO, you have succinctly posted my reasons for my absence. It used to be fun on here, but the points you have raised have soured the site for me, hence I haven't even been reading threads for the last 6 weeks. Today I have only logged on with a view to closing my account - I haven't missed the site in that time, something I wouldn't have believed a year ago. Thank you to old regulars and friends such as yourself, RBF, Supers et Al, but I am afraid this is my last post. David
Well that is a shame but I understand your reasons, we've lost some really good posters over the years because of infighting and bickering. Personally I won't be quitting completely but I am limiting my posts from now on to football related matters only and fully intend to ignore the more controversial 'off topic' threads. Don't close your account mate, we don't want to lose you
It´s always sad to see or hear of anyone leaving a board like this, solely because they think the climate has become too unsavoury or poisonous to continue. Some like myself, have had to cut back due to circumstance, but when it´s for the other reason, then something´s not quite right somewhere. I hear several people blaming Dave´s ´Political´ thread for this latest bout of personal insults. I disagree, no thread, whether about politics, religion, football, or what the weather will be like tomorrow, need deteriorate to such a level, that it turns into a personal slanging match - it´s that few percent of posters that are the problem, not the thread topic. Respect, respect, and yet more respect, combined with a smattering of tolerance, would go a long way to improving things in my opinion. Firstly, respect for there being a multitude of different types on here, with a multitude of different views, and where no one view is necessarily any more correct than anyone elses. Everyone´s view ought to be valid, however ludicrous or ridiculous it might seem to others, and imo, it ought to be perfectly acceptable to call it as such, without getting a mouthful back in return, it ´s then up to the other person to fight his corner to convince you otherwise. The best debates and discussions are nearly always those where a contentious viewpoint has been aired, nothing ever really much comes of agreeing with each other, all the time. Just don´t call each other ludicrous or ridiculous, because that´s when the trouble will start, stick to each other´s opinions. Not everyone has the same degree of thick-skinness about them, and some people take offence and get hurt very easily. It seems to me that that often gets forgotten, and it only takes one thoughtless comment, and things can quickly spiral out of control. For a board like this to be a success, it needs as many different types and different viewpoints as possible, and an influx, rather than an exodus of posters, so hopefully that trend can be bucked very soon.
Quiet frankly I think you are ludicrous and ridiculous if you think this ridiculous post is right! Bah!
I wonder if the people who suggest posters have left because of "insults" and "personal attacks" on the political thread are any of the same people who took such delight in labelling anyone who supported Hootun a "happy clapper" on a regular basis not so long back, or the same ones who have contributed to arguably our most knowledgable and informative poster (that'll be Mr.Pyjamas) withdrawing from the forum and hardly posting any more because of the ridiculous vitriol he receives when he (for the umpteenth time) eloquently shows someone to be wrong or ill-informed on a subject that he actually knows something about? People in glass houses often tend to be the ones with the thinnest skin I find, just sayin....
