When are some on here finally going to admit we're just not good enough? We may have 'names', players with PL experience, but they weren't good enough to stay in the Premier League and it appears they're not good enough to get us back there. The window will give us an insight as to whether we are coming to terms with reality or still living in TF's 'fantasy world'...

The only one living in a fantasy world is TF himself demanding promotion

Nigel pearson formed a strong squad over a period of time at Leicester using players of a similar quality to the ones we currently have, i see no reason why with the correct manager our players cant get into the play offs. Unfortunately our squad has underachieved for so long now that they i sometimes wonder if they actually beleive in themselves.

If you compared squads with other teams in the playoffs I think most would agree we should have been good enough to challenge but 3 managers in half a season has destroyed any hope of that, there were plenty of decent managers available at the time we appointed CR but TF & Sir Les apparently new better & another season has been wasted due their ineptitude.

The way I see things with our squad and set up we are a mid table championship club at best.

So if we did make the playoffs and somehow win it then another fun season being the prem whipping boys...?

Yes loosing sucks but let's get real, we are nowhere near being ready to go up. Now we have Jimmy we really need to stick with him, let him build a settled squad for a change.

Do you really think Watford, Norwich & Bournemouth thought they were ready to go up, for any team who achieves promotion the sole aim the following season is survival & then hope can build from there. We had a chance after surviving one season which was subsequently blown by Hughes, last season we had a chance of survival going into the New Year but didn't strengthen in Jan & then capitulated.

This summer will be a complete rebuild assuming we don't get promoted & then how long will it take to build a settled squad capable of achieving both promotion & the surviving in the Prem the fact is we just don't know it could be another generation.

That's my worry too when everyone bangs on about the need to rebuild over a number of years.

Always disappointing to lose, especially at the death, but the season could still go in any direction. We could sort ourselves out and finish 3rd, we could lose the plot and go down, or anything in between. Most likely, we'll muddle our way to 14th or similar, but anything is possible, and a month from now, the same applies.
