Ref was crap today but was one of them games that could have gone either way.i thought town played really well second half . I know we lost but I enjoyed the game and there was a great atmosphere .
I honestly think that we will be alright this season and 4 points from the next 2 will see us safe. McCarthy has done an amazing job and I look forward to making a serious challenge for promotion next season.
I don't think we have anything to worry about, its not like we are on a awful bad run of form like 1 win in 16, or even the officials are wanting us relegated or anything!
My summary of the game would be that we started the game well, we were very dominant and for the first 15-20 minutes probably had 70% possession in that period. We looked likely to score and eventually won the penalty. I was a bit concerned that Brady was picked to take it but he looked cool to be fair to the lad and finished well. We knocked it about fairly comfortably for the remainder of the half and prevented Ipswich from ever creating anything of any real concern to Stockdale. Presumably Mick gave his players a bit of a hammering at half-time as they came out with a bit more willingness about them, particularly to press higher up the pitch, which caused us a few problems (particularly for Faye & Hobbs who are not the best in possession). Ipswich had their best spell of the game from 45-55 minutes and eventually it paid off as some sloppy defending (Chester the unlikely man at fault) let Wordsworth have a free head at goal, which he took well in all fairness. However, I still felt City had more of a buzz about them and "3-0 to the Peterborough" ringing round the ground can only have helped that. Brady threatened throughout and was the one player that Ipswich defenders didn't want to go near, unsurprisingly it was his cross that found Koren superbly for a header at the front post. 2-1 City and we saw it out from that point onwards. Fair play to Ipswich, they actually tried to move the ball when in possession which is rarely the case in this division, they'll definitely be safe this season and some good recruits could allow Mick to push for top 6 finish next season. Given Ipswich's recent defensive record, scoring 2 is a decent achievement by City and I'm starting to think this team has something about them like the team of 2008.
If this is about the Penalty decision, then it's most definitely a bitter response. On the Football League Show, it's clear that he takes Meyler down in the area, which, I'm pretty sure is a penalty.
The game could easily have gone either way, City controlled the first half, but sat back on the 1-0 lead in the second(as they often do), the substitutions effectively settled the game. Blaming the ref is a little sad, he allowed the game to flow and was far better than half the ref's we've had this season.
