1. How relieved are you with the win, and was there real cause for concern if you had got anything less than 3 points? Coventry are a very poor team and although we have started badly with some pathetic results I think a defeat last night was definately required last night. A defeat would have seen real grumbles from the supporters and a real worry about the state of things at the club. 2. Was there a significant improvement in the team's performance tonight? Yes and No. For the first 25 minutes or so we played our best football in recent memory. We passed well and the movement was good. After that initial spell we looked to feel too comfortable and didnt seem to have the same energy. In the second half Coventry had 4 or 5 clear chances which could of made for an interesting night. Having four CM's meant that we often over crowded in the centre of the pitch, luckily Cresswell was a good outlet on the Left (just how impressive was he) but the right side seemed rather hit and Miss. If we had taken our true chances we good have scored 6 or 7 but could easily have conceded 3 or 4. Overall a much required display but Coventry have major issues and it will be the next home match (Brighton) that I think will be the true test of how we are playing. 3. Can and more importantly, WILL you build on this? We need to . If we can play with the tempo and the movement of the first 20 minutes then there is no reason why we cant have a decent season. I think a CD from of Collins/ Sonko/ Inga is required as Delaney still worries me. Edwards is fine at RB against Poor teams but questions will be asked in our next 3 matches (WHU, Boro, B&HA) and although we played with 4 CM, the blend between attack & defence was just about right But we had occasional isues when we tried to switch the play and couldn't as all 4 had bunched in the middle of the pitch. They all seemed to switch position which was fine to a degree but an outlet would have really helped us and hopefully this will come with time if we continue to stick with this formation.
Team is starting to " gell " . Would be happy with 2 pts out of next 2 games , it going to be tough . Cressy was a class above.
Going forward we looked excellent last night, the movement and passing was the best we have seen for a long while and i do think that Scotland is showing that he should be the one to partner chops, His link up play was fantastic. Defensive though, we gave them to many chances against the likes of west ham and middlesboro we can't do that, Hopefully Inga will be back!
