Agree completely. No matter how **** you think the team is or how **** you think an individual player is, surely you want them to perform well and win when they pull on a red and white shirt. I don't see the point in getting on a players back during the game- you're doing the away supporters job for them. Mind you, I think its fine to pan the useless sods on here. Otherwise what's the point of this forum?!
I'm the sort of person who would join in the chorus of booing. Thats why I havnt bothered paying for the privilege since the early 90's. I realised at an early age that i got no satisfaction out of paying to watch a **** team who was probably going to get beat. It only cost me £3 to get in at the time as well. The thought of paying todays prices just to endure the suffering??? Baffles me why anyone would bother. If you're gonna go, dont boo, or at least stay silent!
I can see the benefits of occasionally going to away matches. A trip away with mates, watch the footy, a drinking binge on the evening, a good laugh, stopping over and a stinking hangover during the awful trip home. To me the football result would be secondary. But going to home matches every 2 weeks. Watching ****e, being miserable for 90 minutes surrounded by miserable people, then going home in a stinking mood. In recent years even when we win we seldom play well and totally outright deserve it. Even a win is not particularly entertaining. And regularly pumping money in the coffers of people who dont deserve it? No way Pedro!!!
We'll in Manchester this weekend, my lass is going to do some shopping while I jump on a train go to the match. Though why not, better than watching her window shop in harvey nicks for stuff we can't afford.
Another crushing defeat then learning of the extent of the massive dent in the credit card bill? Nightmare!
Your supporters deserved better last night, apart from McGeadys superb goal they didn't have a lot to shout about and its a hell of a long way from yours to our place so respect to all that made the trip.
Give some to the players before the game to enhance performance. Talking of performance,a lot of comments here refer to the support at the SOL responsible for poor displays due to booing and slagging off. These are valid points, but what excuses do we give players for total inept performances away from home,ie last night,Barnsley a few weeks ago, second halfs against Hull,Sheff Wednesday.Go back even further to St Johnstone pre season. We are reminded by Grayson that these are not acceptable and the players will learn from. They continue to do this so do not learn a xxxxing thing and wots more appear not to be listening to him (warning about exactly what Cardiff wud do and allowing exactly that to happen). Never mind we fans just have to be patient
This is the top and bottom of everything imo. The only influence we have is the atmosphere, letting everything we have no control over fuel that influence into a negative thing can only harm. Short's money, Short's company, Shorts decisions. He's doing it his way in his own time and there's **** all we can do about it until he decides to part company with us. All we can do is wait and not make things worse than they already are, cause it won't get rid of him quicker, if anything it could make it harder to get shot if the potential buyer gets hung up on the toxic atmosphere. Only football at the end of the day. A fan will pay the price if they make it their entire life.
I must admit i have better times at portman rd ,used to watch them when BR was manager ,saw alan brazil score five against Southampton in a night game, town had a great team in the eighties and were brilliant, as for SAFC i really do not know how it can be turned around with who is available atm ,i dont think our fan base could be classed as glory hunters...lol
