Yeah I remember that day vividly my old man was with me god rest him and we got talking to some Leicester fans. They were a friendly bunch and I have liked Leicester ever since.
Filbert Street was a proper ground, proper old school.

Ipswich have had more success by some distance in absolute terms, a League Championship, and FA Cup and a European trophy. Indeed there are not that many clubs in English football that have that trinity
Frankly I've never felt anything 'linking' us to Ipswich in footballing terms other than a blue shirt
I tried saying something similar to Johnny Wark above but he seemed to dismiss it out of hand.
Not very good at taking compliments those tractor boys!
I've always felt both Clubs are very similar and I didn't even think about the shirt colour. From what I've read so far its obviously just a personal thing from when I started seriously following footie - the early nineties - both outfits appeared to have a kindred sense about them.
Unfortunately I've discovered in the last half-hour that its been pretty much all in my own head these subsequent 20 years![]()

.I am pretty sure that while we were playing Leicester in a league game at Portman Rud the floodlights failed and the game was abandoned. Leicester were 2 nil up at the time!![]()

Don't go beating yourself up about it mate!![]()
I feel like a child who's just been told there's no Santy Claus![]()

Was there myself that night, Walky, there were loads of Leicester in with us on the Poplar Side that night who were cheering us on, (well, we were playing Leeds), a real friendly atmosphere with us and them mixed on the night and they were all congratulating us on our win.
Always had a lot of time for Leicester since then.

Are you seriously telling me that Santa doesn't exist?![]()
Clearly Ipswich: they've won the UEFA cup, FA cup, and old First Division. They were also founded 6 years earlier.
Leicester only have one valuable piece of silverware, the 64 league cup. Their wins in 97' & 2000 are completely devalued by it's recent Mickey Mouse status.
Ipswich have also been in a decent stadium since 1884, whilst Leicester moved to their soulless bowl (with hilarious drum-induced atmosphere) only 12 years ago. They're very much nouveau-riche.
Alright then
Going off topic for a second but does everyone in every region of England pronounce the name of the jolly, gift-bearing fat man the same way as the Americans, as in "Santa"?

Perhaps you should start a new random thread on the Ipswich and Leicester boards to discuss it!![]()
Ipswich also win because they're the biggest club in their area of England.Leicester just have a massive chip on their shoulder in the knowledge that they'll always be inferior to Forest. If you're looking for a proper historical midlands club Swords, with heritage and tradition- look no further than the 79/80 European champions.

If you can find a Leicester fan with this i'll be astounded.

Well I've already had one of my illusions shattered, I might as well go the whole hog and have every other core belief I held dear debunked an' all.
Next you'll be telling me no-one else fancied Ann Robinson on the Weakest Link.......
