Ipswich have had more success by some distance in absolute terms, a League Championship, and FA Cup and a European trophy. Indeed there are not that many clubs in English football that have that trinity

I tried saying something similar to Johnny Wark above but he seemed to dismiss it out of hand.

Not very good at taking compliments those tractor boys!

Frankly I've never felt anything 'linking' us to Ipswich in footballing terms other than a blue shirt

I've always felt both Clubs are very similar and I didn't even think about the shirt colour. From what I've read so far its obviously just a personal thing from when I started seriously following footie - the early nineties - both outfits appeared to have a kindred sense about them.

Unfortunately I've discovered in the last half-hour that its been pretty much all in my own head these subsequent 20 years :(

Don't go beating yourself up about it mate! <laugh>

Clearly Ipswich: they've won the UEFA cup, FA cup, and old First Division. They were also founded 6 years earlier.

Leicester only have one valuable piece of silverware, the 64 league cup. Their wins in 97' & 2000 are completely devalued by it's recent Mickey Mouse status.

Ipswich have also been in a decent stadium since 1884, whilst Leicester moved to their soulless bowl (with hilarious drum-induced atmosphere) only 12 years ago. They're very much nouveau-riche.

Was there myself that night, Walky, there were loads of Leicester in with us on the Poplar Side that night who were cheering us on, (well, we were playing Leeds), a real friendly atmosphere with us and them mixed on the night and they were all congratulating us on our win.

Always had a lot of time for Leicester since then.

I was there too ... the Leeds fans weren't quite so friendly! My cousin's boyfriend was a plastic Leeds fan (i.e was from Leicester but preferred to bath in glory) insisted we went in with the Leeds fans in the kop, Pen 4 as I recall on his insistence (he was a couple of years older than us and a mouthy ****)... loads of Leicester in there as well as Leeds and it kicked off late on ... poetic justice was that my cousin's boyfriend got his arse kicked first by the Leeds fans for being from Leicester and then by a couple of our likely lads for supporting Leeds instead of Leicester! ... poetic justice I 've always felt <laugh>

<laugh> Alright then <ok>

Ipswich also win because they're the biggest club in their area of England.
Leicester just have a massive chip on their shoulder in the knowledge that they'll always be inferior to Forest. If you're looking for a proper historical midlands club Swords, with heritage and tradition- look no further than the 79/80 European champions.

This is very True but don't tell the Narwich scummers....! <laugh>

I could well understand if Swords had written a thread about Ipswich and Norwich but to compare us to Leicester is just weird!

If you can find a Leicester fan with this i'll be astounded.
