I went to Poland about 25 years ago and you'd go into a "restaurant" and there'd be a hot dog stall in the corner. You could also go to fantastic restaurants for a reasonable price though. I went over the border to Slovenia years later and the poverty was even worse than Poland.

I love the massive Morrisons in Hull. It's the second best I've seen next to the one in Gibraltar. Our local Morrisons in London is very down market.

I don't get all this about anlaby road, it's really not that bad. The dual carriageway bit from the bridge up to the roundabout with the shut down petor station is all quite nice ish too, certainly not shanty town.

I'm sure there's far worse areas in hull I know for a fact I've seen a lot worse in other cities.

Also once you reach the park and walking up to the stadium does hull a lot of justice it really is a picturesque place for a soccer stadium.

I don't think people think of the immediate new stadium surroundings as representative of an area though.
 
Bit rich for a German to say Hull looks a bit ****. Sort of like if a Englishman went to play in Dresden and complained about the place.

The Country is spotless, The Children have respect for there elders, and the people have pride in there work and craftsmanship
 
my only experience of Germany was a stag do in Berlin from which my 2 observations were;
a) nothing hits the late night munchies quite like a big fat currywurst
b) the prostitutes are stunning although they looked like they'd been cloned

think it's a decent interview overall, honest and astute.

Thanks for bringing the article to our attention - though you did take some of the sting out of our Nick's words. That actually means "Hull is known for being Ugly." unless my German isn't quite as good as I thought it was.

He also lost me when he said Bayern over BVB. I used to live in Dortmund, so can't be doing with that!

I challenge you to teach for a week in a Gesamt or a Berufschule - and tell me they respect their elders. I love Germany - spent the happiest year of my life there and would gladly go back - but their positives are often exaggerated.

Our government gave loads of money in aid to help rebuild Dresden to say 'sorry' - the Germans had collected, numbered and stored all the rubble and used the aid money to rebuild them. Funny how Hull never got any 'aid' for simply saying no to the Abercrombie plan... bar The Deep, we've not seen much funding since then either. Part of the problem - during the boom years Hull didn't get any of the cut that the likes of Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle etc got.
 
Golaccio does have a point but it is a very clean and tidy place. It's issue for me was that I found the people and place sterile and soulless.
