My comment was more about the fire to take the
game by the scruff of the neck when you feel that
things are not going well for your team.

This is something that IMHO both Kane and Alli
do more frequently than Eriksen.
I agree with you completely, but would say that in Eriksen's case it's due to an unusual cause: he's reluctant to put himself forward. Kane and Dele in different ways have a sizable selfish streak to them and it helps them, as you say, take over games. Danes from what I understand from a Danish friend don't like individual excellence on principle, because it can be seen as making most people look ordinary. He also old me Danes really don't like Eriksen at all for exactly that reason.

Even so, if Eriksen were confident being more selfish and ruthless would work out well, he'd do it more. As it stands, I think he hates stepping forward and failing so much he doesn't do it as often as he should. His comments after the Ireland game indicate that a burden may have lifted off his shoulders. His one sentence football bio in Denmark now reads: Eriksen scored a hat trick to send Denmark to its first world cup in 12 (?) years. He's finally the national football hero everyone demanded he be.I think he's convinced himself now that stepping up more is worth the risk.

I wonder who got the easiest group stage draw?

Or, to put it another way...

Have they drawn Brazil's opponents yet?
Good for England.
Belgium are tough, but 2nd should be achievable as Tunisia and Panama shouldn't be too difficult (Iceland <doh><yikes>)
If a Tunisian army can repeatedly kick the crap out of the Roman Empire, a team containing Joe Hart and Jordan Henderson isn't exactly going to be much of a stretch...

In this day and age no one is unbeatable and there will be some bus parkers ready to die for their country and steal a goal.......just like they do against us!

Why do England managers consistently pick **** squads?
Hart has been useless when picked-more or less lost his place with a team struggling against relegation. Did Southgate not watch their last game?
Still insists on picking 'one trick pony Vardy'
Similarly , he hasn't watched our very own Dof.
Still picking Livermore. And what do people see in Henderson?

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (West Ham), Jack Butland (Stoke), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley)

Defenders: Kyle Walker, John Stones (Manchester City), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), James Tarkowski (Burnley), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Alfie Mawson (Swansea)

Midfielders: Eric Dier, Dele Alli (both Tottenham Hotspur), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Lewis Cook (Bournemouth), Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (all Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Jake Livermore (West Brom)

Forwards: Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

We were never gonna win it and with that squad it will be another early exit and probably won't get out of the group stage<doh>

It just reinforces the view that most of the top players in the PL are from abroad.
Obviously, there are one or two exceptions - Kane notably.
And the ones who look half decent from time to time are aided by better players around them at club level - Sterling notably.

Hart, Rose, Lallana, Henderson, Livermore and Welbeck have no business being in that squad, all have either been **** or not played.

Vardy deserves the call up, only Kane and Sterling have more goals than him in terms of Englishmen.
