Winks called up to the senior squad.

A double edged sword. It's hard to see beyond a repeat of last summer with Southgate at the helm.

Both Harry's would do well to limit their proximity to our national set up right now. There's another **** storm coming after we fail again in Russia and being captain or the 'new midfield creator and saviour' is not a role either should be looking for. I'd be very happy for those roles to go to Cahill and Wilshire.

Best pencil Gerard Pique in for an "injury" if this is the way the Madrid-based fans respond to him

Meanwhile there's a big change for the Italy team...

Anyone else think this is a little mean towards Ben Chilwell?

Is a bit off, isn't it? I get what they're going for, but I think that they've missed the target.
It's probably the same door too, as they're too cheap to fork out for four bits of adhesive for the U21s, apparently.

I've made my dislike/boredom clear when it comes to international football, but some of the groups are interestingly poised.
4 teams separated by 2 points in Group I.
Scotland have a chance of 2nd if they beat Slovakia. If...
Holland v Sweden on 10th October could be decisive for 2nd in Group A.
Same night Portugal v Switzerland to win Group B.
Wales v Ireland for 2nd in Group D.
Some other key games elsewhere too.

To hark back to my Shearer/Sheringham comment about Kane, I'd make a similar comparison with Winks.
He reminds me of a mixture of Parker and Modric, though it's probably not much of a coincidence.
He would've been coming through our youth system while the pair played together for our first team.

Our U18s coach's influence on the lad is clear. He's even got the Scotty Parker Turn down.
His workrate, willingness to do the endless graft in the middle and get stuck in all remind me of him.
The technique, passing, playing with his head up and dictating the pace and tempo of the game are all reminiscent of the Croatian, though.
Not nearly on the same level that either reached with us, at the moment, but I doubt that his attitude will let him down.

I wonder which of his dads he ran to in celebration of his call-up? Pochettino or Parker?

Can see Chilwell joining him soon, to be honest. Seems to have a lot of potential.

Score your first senior PL goal for Spurs against
the Spanners, be an England senior regular
within 3 seasons (Dier etc) .

< this is a meaningful and valid point. dg >

One day bookies might start taking bets on players missing internationals due to "injury" - because the only way The FA would actually step in is if they walked past Ladbrokes and saw how low the odds for Man Utd players always are.
