It was a forgettable Euros for us - Keegan was the manager and beating Germany was our only high point. The rest was dire.Really? I've forgotten that! 1966 clear as a bell but 2000 Euros a complete blankThats old age for you (80 next birthday)

Don’t buy the whole Sterling narrative. He’s a very good player.
It's not a "narrative" it's an opinion (as you have said) and your's seems to be in a very small minority. But isn't that just an opinion, not fact? My opinion is that "the narrative" actually says Sterling is better than he actually is. In other words completely opposite to your idea of the narrative. And for evidence I cite just about every pundit, who regularly sing his praises. So I can't see this other narrative at all.
We know from history that majorities are rarely right. I am part of his minority. I tend to think that for every Stirling goal we might have had two of Kane's if Stirling was replaced with someone who knew how to pass. It's not a "narrative" it's an opinion (as you have said) and your's seems to be in a very small minority.
He knows how to pass mate, he just needs someone to pass to.We know from history that majorities are rarely right. I am part of his minority. I tend to think that for every Stirling goal we might have had two of Kane's if Stirling was replaced with someone who knew how to pass.

For me he has to play though, Sterling and Kane will continue to benefit from it.
I'm thinking of the times in between when a trophy was involved. We did see them beat Germany in 1966 Smithy! Hope you are keeping well![]()

YupIsn’t she his agent or something
I think he’s looked better as an impact sub though when players are tiring and space opens up. If England are not going to play an expensive game from the start, he’s wasted.Sterling hasn’t hindered Kane’s game at all, the lack of creativity in the team has. It’s no real surprise that when Grealish came on, both Sterling and Kane grabbed goals not long afterwards, he was involved in the first and got the assist for the second, he also got the assist for Sterling in the Czech game. He’s a striker/ forward’s dream with the amount he creates.
We had the fortune of watching Eriksen do it for years at Spurs, Grealish is that sort of player for England, albeit Eriksen was more technical whereas Grealish is more skilful.

Kane and Grealish are expected to move for over £100m each. That not expensive enough for you?I think he’s looked better as an impact sub though when players are tiring and space opens up. If England are not going to play an expensive game from the start, he’s wasted.
They played an expensive game in the '66 finalKane and Grealish are expected to move for over £100m each. That not expensive enough for you?
