**** off Southgate you boring knob.

Yeah that’s a real black mark against him, that performance. Seems in love with Mount, who isn’t a bad player, but doesn’t seem to be doing it for England as a 10. I’ve defended Sterling on here too but he had a very poor game. Foden wide right is unsurprisingly a complete waste too.

We play too slowly through midfield. Part of the problem is that Rice and Phillips are too similar and aren’t technically good enough to play the game at pace. Phillips had one good game against a Croatia midfield with the combined age of about 150 years where his fitness shone through but we need a more creative option deep in most games.

I’d be all for dropping Mount in deeper with Rice and having Grealish or Foden as a 10, they need more time on the ball. Mix it up with Rashford on the left and Sancho on the right. Nothing wrong with Kane up top but he’s barely touching the ball because England play so slowly the defence always had a chance to get organised by an energetic Scotland.

What a load of bollocks. It really is starting to feel like the last Euros with Hodgson. The Czechs to knock us out this time?

Two cloggers in central midfield such as Rice and Phillips is no good, they do not pass the ball quickly or forward enough, one of them needs dropping for a better footballer in there. Grealish needs to be starting also, and the service into the box was non existent, Kane was feeding off scraps. I`d get rid of Mount and one of Rice or Phillips, play Foden centrally and bring in Grealish and Sancho / Rashford.

Phillips was more progressive against Croatia, not sure why he played so differently tonight

You surprise me, surely Scholes would fit that bill
He was picked to play on the left for England or occasionally in the role he played for Utd.
I can’t think of anyone who could receive the ball in front of the back four, hold on to it, play incisive forward passes etc.
Carrick might have been a candidate too, but he didn’t get picked often enough.

Winks has done that for England far more than any other player since the last World Cup, just saying. Shame he never does it for us or he’d play more and probably be in the England team.

Not a lot of credit being shown to Scotland on here.
Worked their feckin' socks off, almost always first to 2nd balls and harried the feck out of England all over the park.
England don't have some God given right to win...

You are right - but most of us English and when did we ever give the opposition any credit!!

Scotland should have won but isn't that often the case Scotland should have but didn't all rather Spursy?

Scotland deserved to win that because they were far more positive in thier approach to the game. Southgate manages to make a negative team out of an English squad with a wealth of attacking talent. He is a liability and the sooner he goes the better.
