What a contrast to the Croatia game.

Always good to see Alonso on the losing side.

Good stuff. We look so much better with a balanced midfield and pace out wide rather than pushing Sterling ahead of Kane. The consequence is that we still don't have the defensive quality to play 4 at the back but we just about got away with it.

    Wish we'd got Barkley tbh.

Raheem Sterling silenced a lot of critics tonight.

That was the real Eric Dier playing tonight, but a massive over-reaction as to how good we were - we had just 27% possession and were technically outplayed for large chunks of the match. Thought Gomez was very good tonight and is the future probably rather than Maguire who is big, strong and brave but not really top quality.

  8. He settled down after a shaky start. Certainly a talent.

Yeah, it was a shame that he forgot to come out for the second half, though. <whistle>

I think Maguire has made a huge difference to our defence he reminds a bit of Jack Charlton he wasn't techinally gifted either but the degree of determination spreads throughout the team.
Spurs could do with such a player. We still miss Ledley King.

EDIT: Not that I am suggesting Ledley wasn't supremely gifted technically but on top of that he had huge determination.

It's always good to have a lucky keeper and he had his fair share tonight but to be fair to Pickford he was instrumental in two of our goals and it's not often you can say that about a keeper.

He finished well. Took his chances instinctively rather than fannying about on the ball.
His pace gets him into good positions, but his touch and lack of composure always seem to let him down in an England shirt (and sometimes in a City one).
Tonight he was sharp for once.

He was sharp on a couple of occasions yes - but how can his inclusion be justified if he only scores every three years? This is not sour grapes its a worry that this will "prove" his quality so he doesn't have to again for a few years.

I thought Harry Kane looked so powerful tonight almost appearing to be the largest physical man on the pitch. His part in the goals was crucial and he looks back to his best IMO even though he didn't score himself.

We've all noticed the parallels between England and Spurs and another appeared last night i.e. two different performances in the two halves so let's hope for an away win against West Ham.

  19. The twat who posted this is allegedly a Spurs fan. Why? I have no idea!
It gets even worse if you check out his Twitter account - makes Harry Hotspur look almost balanced <doh>

I think we should enrol his single brain cell for one of those new GP referrals, as it must be feckin’ lonely <laugh>

Well when you have 4 out of the England starting XI being
Spurs players, then the parallels are obvious. < no brainer >
