There's a price to be paid for encouraging a more physical game and not having the officials able to control behaviour by banning people that make dangerous tackles and seek to wind-up opponents. There have been too many incidents this year that have been missed by officials or seen and punished insufficiently.

The primary duty of the FA is to protect those involved in football - players, officials, fans. Currently, there's a long way to go to achieve that and dangerous play must be addressed severely. No more letting players and clubs away with it. If you go in 2 footed and dangerously it's time to get 6 games or more. That's what Dembele got for not gouging Costa's eye. I'm sure someone who, unseen, spat at an opponent would get far more than a player that goes in with intent to really hurt an opponent and gets 3 games because the ref saw it.

It's something I've never understood. No-one ever ended someone's career by spitting on them. Coleman has apparently sustained 3 breaks in his leg and could well be out for a heck of a long time. Taylor has ruined his and potentially Everton's season.

So not only was Belgium's starting lineup perplexing (unless Martinez was playing Chadli at left back, or something equally mental) but with them trailing 1-0 to Leicstos Cityos his masterstroke was...replace Fellaini with Dembele.

He's lucky Lukaku scored a late equalizer - because the Belgian press would probably crucify him otherwise.

And that was after Greece had two players sent off. <doh>

Sky don't even seem to be able to work out what he was doing:

3-5-1-1? No full or wingbacks at all, but three left wingers.

Nice of Southgate to run certain players into the ground. Ta, Gareth. <ok>

The pace has dropped off. They need to kill this one off with another goal.
I think Lithuania would really die off if it hit 2-0.
