You'd hope he won't. That side was perfect. Neither of the two you mentioned would bring anything we need other than a big ego and an injury waiting to happen.
 
Does this make Hodgson a good manager? No, it makes him a lucky manager. Without injuries, our players wouldn't be in this team. Willshire for Dier, Rooney and Sterling for Kane and Alli, Shaw for Rose etc. This will make it harder for him to go with his natural tenancies, but he may still make the wrong choices if those players become available.

Alli and Kane are getting the big plaudits and both had great games, but for me Dier and Rose were standout performances.
With Cahill and Smalling vulnerable, it was just as well that Eric was in his best 'Spurs' form in front of them - and I thought it was the best defensive performance I have seen from Rose at LB.

Don't care if it was a friendly. That was one strong and experienced German team out there on their own turf, so the win shouldn't be underestimated. However, that CB issue needs sorting quickly or all the positives will be worth nothing.
 
All the papers this morning are now asking the question of whether Rooney's time at International level is coming to an end. Nice of them to catch up with the conversation most fans have been having for several years. I have no idea why Rooney is still considered a shoe in for the national team. Didn't turn up to several world cups and if in that team last night, would have led us to defeat undoubtedly.
 
What! Leave out the England talisman Wayne 'One World Cup Goal' Rooney! Just because he and the other traditional over-hyped players have failed at the last umpteen tournaments doesn't mean they will at the Euros. This year is their year! Why on earth would Woy pick the 1st and 2nd leading scorers from the Premiership in his side? ****Continue in the same vein for the next 5mins as if you work for TalkShite****

If the likes of Rooney and Stirling are anything more than back-ups in the squad for the Euros then it will be a travesty.
 
Dier ought to be the first name on the England team-sheet, followed by Alli, then Kane.

Rose, Walker, and Mason should also feature somewhere in the squad.

Provided he doesn't pick Rooney, who ever else Roy picks really won't make any difference. Rooney is a waste of a squad-place. If he goes into the first XI, then we are playing with 10 men and a lame duck.

TalkShite will still have the likes of Adrian Durham and Mickey Dim prattling on about how "he's got to go!" whenever the question is raised about whether or not Rooney should be in the England squad, and any caller who dares to say what every other fan in the

I couldn’t believe the attacking speed and fluency Spurs I mean England showed. Kane, Vardy and Alli need to start, maybe in a 4-4-2 with Alli as ten--though I guess there’s a case for bringing on Vardy late against tired legs. Dier needs to be DM and Rose LB. Drinkwater deserves a start. I thought Clyne was good at RB, but Cahill, Henderson, Lallana, probably Smalling and perhaps Welbeck should sit. Forster really impressed me with his distribution. After receiving one backpass under pressure he managed to find an England player near midfield.

CB is going to be our most difficult position to fill, which is odd as, historically, that has been our strongest position.
 
Never thought I'd hear myself calling for West Ham players to be included in the squad, but Cresswell and Tomkins have had very good seasons, particularly the former. Smalling has never looked comfortable at international level, Cahill is one of those players who only looks good if he's playing alongside a better player, and I think Jagielka is past it tbh. I can't see Tomkins doing any worse than any of them.

But yes, CB is a massive concern. In a real tournament, a team like Germany would've gone 2-0 up with half an hour to go and simply shut up shop for the rest of the game, possibly hitting us for 3-0 as we commit men forward to salvage the game. Not to take anything away from what was a remarkable comeback, but in reality you go 2-0 down at international level, you ain't getting back up again.
