I heard Thudd say something of interest tonight on Sportstalk, don't know if anyone else caught it, I can't remember it word for word but when asked what his thoughts were on the new manager he said that he'd been very good, and made the point that many of the players that had been at City for the last few years wouldn't have experienced the technical stuff that Marco had been doing. Reading between the lines it made Bruce and Phelan sound very much like dinosaurs.

Like I've said, if he stays Marco will definitely keep us up, of that I have no doubt.

Jake in the hdm saying the same today, it does make you think what have they been doing with SB and MP.

In the early weeks of Phelan's reign all the comments from the players were about his training being incredibly thorough with no stone left unturned to the extent that they even knew when the opposition went to the toilet.

Its standard stuff that every player says when a new boss takes over as a way of getting the new guy onside. When did you ever hear a player say of a new boss "well it's been rubbish to be honest and training was much better under the last gaffer"?

Under Phil Parkinson?

It was the reference to technical stuff that was important, I think.

But it's just a player throwing out platitudes that fit with the stereotype of a foreign manager. In the summer, if he's still here, I can guarantee a player will talk about "changes in diet brought in by the 'gaffer' to give it a more European feel and that we now do multiple, short sessions throughout the day with a lot more ball work rather than just fitness".

Similarly, if it all goes tits up with Silva and we hire a British manager a player will come out and say of the new boss "Its great to have someone here who already knows the league and the game in this country and training has been excellent. He's brought in some great ideas and we feel we concentrate a lot more on the opposition now, knowing everything about them."

Fish to clapping seals springs to mind.

The problem lies in the 24/7 football media industry.

A lot of hours need filling and as soon as the interesting stuff has been said all we're left with are the inane and trivial mutterings of footballers who would rather be anywhere but in front of a TV or radio microphone.

Likely that Henriksen is effectively out for the season. At least Silva will know he has to find a permanent fix rather than a stopgap.

Many of whom will speak to a comms person before going to the interview to ask "what shall I say?"

The appointment of Silva, the things he's said and they way the team have responded has led to a massive increase in positivity among the fans, I'd be amazed if there hadn't been a similar effect on the players.

Hull City ‏@HullCity
@HenrixMarkus is likely to be sidelined for 2-3 months with a shoulder injury picked up during Tuesday night’s @EFLCup tie at @ManUtd
Shame for the lad, hopefully be back for the back end of the season when, given our meagre resources, most of the team will be knackered. As an aside, the shoulder charge that brought about his injury was at best 50/50 but in my opinion was over excessive from Pogba so why on earth did Manure get the free kick???

Absolutely. they get coaching in handling the media. They always churn out exactly the same stock answers. You can predict exactly what they say before they are interviewed. Interviews aren't even worth commenting on. Another example of the game getting sanitised.
