I don't think that the club's stance has helped with this, to be honest.

You could be right PNP, but I think it's their right. Remember, they're not supporting the fact Suarez is racist, they're supporting Suarez's reason for using the word. Liverpool are firm in their stance Suarez hasn't been racist.

They've also implied that Evra's dishonest and is making a false accusation, which clearly isn't true.

Well to be fair I haven't read that anywhere but if that's true then they're wrong in saying so. What I had read is that Liverpool think it's ridiculous how the FA have gone on Evra's word alone when really they haven't as Suarez himself admitted using the word.

The bit in their statement where they say nobody else heard the alleged conversation implies dishonesty, to me.
He's made a claim which they don't even seem to be disputing, so why mention the fact that nobody else heard what was said?

There is no excuse for what Suarez said. Because it is ok in some backward culture does not make it acceptable. There are plenty of examples of things that occur in other cultures that no one here would condone, unless of course it affected a player in their team or it was aimed against someone they were bigotted against anyway!!!

I still don't even think that's an excuse, he lived in Holland for years before here and I doubt their morals on this issue are much different to ours.

Agreed. What will they be saying if their appeal is rejected?

Having lived there myself, I would say they are even stricter!

There you go then, that's what makes it hard to believe for me. Why even use it in the first place? You have to be extremely naive to not know the opinions of racism in football in England.

He's posted a link on Twitter for you to report hate crimes to the police.I'll keep that one in mind for the next time Heenan posts <ok>

I just saw that. Hopefully that should prevent a lot of the **** that gets said on the internet. Booby can't escape now <ok>

I agree with PNP on this - I think Liverpool have a lot to answer for. Their stance on this, and sanctioning all the players weraing Suarez shirts, has been disgusting.
There are grounds here to suspend the club from competition.

Think you're clutching at straws there Jaywam!

Not against that opinion, just a tad hopeful to see them disqualified .

Before you go calling other cultures backwards, there are plenty of things that we do or words we use that other cultures would call us backward, racist, homophobic, xenophobic and all other kinds of words for.

I think that Suarez probably isn't a racist. Just like calling someone a Paki or a ****** isn't necessarily being a racist. It all depends on the context; words in themselves cannot be racist, only the people who use them.

It does depend upon the context, but the context here was clearly confrontational.
We know what the context is and what Suarez has said isn't acceptable in that context.
