You could be right PNP, but I think it's their right. Remember, they're not supporting the fact Suarez is racist, they're supporting Suarez's reason for using the word. Liverpool are firm in their stance Suarez hasn't been racist.

They've also implied that Evra's dishonest and is making a false accusation, which clearly isn't true.

Well to be fair I haven't read that anywhere but if that's true then they're wrong in saying so. What I had read is that Liverpool think it's ridiculous how the FA have gone on Evra's word alone when really they haven't as Suarez himself admitted using the word.

The bit in their statement where they say nobody else heard the alleged conversation implies dishonesty, to me.
He's made a claim which they don't even seem to be disputing, so why mention the fact that nobody else heard what was said?

I still don't even think that's an excuse, he lived in Holland for years before here and I doubt their morals on this issue are much different to ours.

Agreed. What will they be saying if their appeal is rejected?

There you go then, that's what makes it hard to believe for me. Why even use it in the first place? You have to be extremely naive to not know the opinions of racism in football in England.

I've just listened to Collymore on Talksport and apparently complaints have been made to various police forces around the country

It's pretty bad when Stan Collymore is taking the moral high ground.

Before you go calling other cultures backwards, there are plenty of things that we do or words we use that other cultures would call us backward, racist, homophobic, xenophobic and all other kinds of words for.

I think that Suarez probably isn't a racist. Just like calling someone a Paki or a ****** isn't necessarily being a racist. It all depends on the context; words in themselves cannot be racist, only the people who use them.

It does depend upon the context, but the context here was clearly confrontational.
We know what the context is and what Suarez has said isn't acceptable in that context.
