Ehab did not go to school with Billy Davies. It's that Robinson bloke that was at school with Ehab, and he worked with Davies at Forest.

Now on the basis of the above story (my opinion if it's true, I've not decided one way or the other based on one statement):

If Barmby turned down Billy Sharp then I've no problem with that. The wages/fee weren't realistic and he wasn't the type of striker we needed for the system Barmby wanted to play (ie one up front).

If he's turned down a PL striker on loan who'd have been on £40k it's another matter. Obviously it depends who it is, but if they'd be on that you'd expect them to be more reasonably proven (I'm trying my best not to name one that was available and fitted the bill) and therefore having a few months of it shouldn't upset all the players who'd be hoping to get promotion pay rises as a result of them being here, and it wouldn't risk the club long term. It would actually be spending the money we've been saving all season having managed to sack Bullard so wouldn't even be outside of the budget we had for the season.

If either case is true, even if other deals wouldn't be sanctioned then Barmby's public comments have been well out of line, and yet I'd still feel Barmby had a case for saying he did the right thing.

Our lack of goals wasn't our only problem, we had a tissue thin squad. If I'd been Barmby I wouldn't have wanted us to splash out on a striker when the squad (not team) was lacking in so many areas (with March coming up). It would have put too much pressure on him to gain promotion this season when a nasty injury to Rosenior, Koren, Hobbs (if it had been earlier), McKenna, or Evans would have had a devastating effect on our chances. He needed time to build by adding several players, not just one up front before creating the expectation.

I guess it does all come down to his media handling, although it was more the fans turning on him that I was expecting when he came out with what was clearly total bollocks at the end of January.

My opinion has shifted completely. It was an interesting article. Anybody with common sense knew we needed a striker in January. It cost us a place in the play offs. I won't miss Barmby, i didn't think he was much of a manager. Adam Pearson was good at posing for photgraphs but little else.

You also seem to have taken a dislike of anything I have had to say. We are all entitled to our views. Unless you know the Allam's personally you are basing your views on what they have said in the HDM etc so how does that make you right and anyone who agrees with you wrong, its just the way you try to ridicule everyone else's post. Well this is the last time I will rise to your bait. We will agree to differ and see what happens in the future

    No it doesn't.

Barmby did not turn down BS ffs, he never asked about him because it was such a ridiculous idea. He never asked about Messi or Ronaldo either, does that mean he turned them down?

To be fair I think it was an honest mistake with the "how do they know Davies" thing, I was just clearing it up for the person who wasn't aware of the Robinson bloke's existance.
