swim, no offence but if the tea lady was changed at our club one of your anoraks would have a thread up in no time, look at your board mate shelvey is a good player, there is a reason they are willing to let him go, and thats because LFC dont think he's up to their standard, but he can do a job for a lower team
Swim, your chairman baulked at the price Blackpool put on Ince and then agrees a 5 million up front payment plus add ons for Shelvey. Looking at your board not a lot of you think Shelvey is worth 6 million. So I think we can comment about the Swans as we have had a bid accepted for Ince, remember some of us think it's too high, at least we're not taking cheap shots at the swans, unlike some of your guys do on your board.
Though this is a subtle wind-up, you are saying what a lot of us are thinking. £8 million ? For a player who had one good season in the Championship? Who could not even get near the great Danny Graham's Championship scoring exploits??? Very risky business.
to be fair, i still get a nose bleed thinking anyone is worth £1mill! I am one of the ones on the fence about Shelvey (another midfielder), but the concerned element are only there because we need a shiny new striker foremost. JS is good business as we will not lose much on an already young proven Prem/European/Full England cap standard player...and the potential profits, well! Its not like he hasnt played in Europe/Premier/International yet. My question was sincere though...r u happy so far
far from a wind up! if we were interested I wanted to know your honest opinion However my "silly season" quote seemed right as it now looks like paper/agent talk. I dont think thete was any truth in our intetest in Ince...I could be wrong though ps ...are you calling me a stealth wum?
All new territory for us Swim, the money that has been spent and possibly going to be spent is obscene. I maintain 8 million is too much for Ince. Shelvey, I can't really comment but your chairman (who's done a great job thus far) baulked at the Ince price tag then shells out possibly 6 million for a player not rated by Liverpool even though he's had a number of Premier and Champions league games. In all fairness I think you may well be right about no real interest in Ince and it's just paper talk, a bit like us and the Cardozo story.
A good and fair assessment Taff; was not impressed with us being linked with Shelvey at first, but have a suspicion that the money Liverpool still owe us for Joe Allen was a part of the deal, and Shelvey will be a British player, and we need more Brits in the squad to help meet the new quota - all well and good buying from Spain, but we need to meet the requirement of home grown players. As for Ince - he is an undoubted raw talent, but agree that 8 million seems high! However he is the type of young player that could be successful for you and then his price would go up! It's always a gamble; we seem to be signing midfielder's like they're going out of fashion when we really need strikers! Think Cornelius is an excellent signing for you - have been talking to some of my Scandinavian mates and they really rate him - have a friend from Copenhagen who is absolutely gutted that he has left! So good luck in the 'silly season' - may you get the players you want, and want the players you get! And best of luck for your first season in the Prem - think you're gonna be okay and really can't wait for the derbies!!
Cheers SCH The voice of reason as usual. Also, Swimaway doesn't always deserve the flack he gets when venturing over here. He makes some valid points with a bit of humour as well. Swim, I'm happy with the one first team signing so far (not been as busy as the Swans yet), will be even happier when Ince signs. As commented elsewhere, we still need some quality defenders, a combative midfielder and, some think, a keeper to keep Marshall on his toes. It will be an interesting few weeks ahead.
Its my username ....it gets the shackles up !! Cheers for seeing through the mist and realising how it was was meant rep Personally, out of the teams coming up you have so far done the best business. We have a few Danes on our board who have been talking about Cornelius for some time and are gutted. PS Sometimes I do deserve the flack but its all meant in the best possible taste, you $#@%£%
Agree with that - generally decent comments with a spice of windup thrown in for good measure - nothing wrong with that. Pity it doesn't work the other way around when a Cardiff poster attempts the same over there. The groovey gang lie in wait for the intrepid venturer who dare visit their domain. Woe betide the unwary - their insecurity surfaces and they pile in..... Shelvey? - we've got better in our development squad.
