Your on the internet, someone makes an attack on your family, too far, way too far. As you, that's how i feel.

Tash's defence has been 'I've had mates say that about me all the time.', key word here Tash, mates. If I'm down the pub and one of my mates makes a quip about shagging my mam, I'll go back at him with a better one! Banter between friends. If a stranger says it, I'll take offence. Regardless of how long I've been on here, you are a stranger. So i would take offence!

There are some on here that i feel are decent people, so if a couple of people said something like that now, i wouldn't be too bothered. But the problem with you Tash, is no-one can tell what your like. Yes, you could have been saying it as a 'over a pint' jokingly style, but you are equally (if not more) likely to have typed it in a blind rage meaning every word!

Another thing, not about me more about OT. He aint in his teen's/early 20's. He hasn't been brought up around this culture, it arrived when he was already grown up (sorry for making you sound old mate!). Say it to a younger poster and they wouldn't care as much. Know your target audience in short.

It wouldn't bother me neither but everyone is different.
Some people have short fuses some people have long ones.
Some people have really tight family bonds and others don't
When the above clashes this is what happens

I wouldn't say its got owt to do with how close your family is, I am and always have been very close to my family but if some sado on an internet forum took it upon himself to slag them off I wouldn't give a ****.
 
Well said SirBR & Wein, couldn't put it better myself.
There's a difference between mates, online people one knows well and online people one doesn't know so well.
Jibes from the former two groups can be taken better as there's a sense of knowing that they're joking and don't really mean it, but from the latter (since you can't imply tone on any form of written media) it is impossible to discern whether a phrase is meant disdainfully or in jest.
It's even harder to distinguish when some of the postings already appears spiteful in nature.
That's where what I said in an earlier post about a line you learn not to cross rings true. You have to learn to vary what you say to what person as everyone has different levels of what they will accept, I'd never swear in front of my parents for example but I know it's perfectly acceptable to swear when with my friends (although that doesn't mean like a trooper) and it's similar here, you have to treat everyone with the utmost respect until you learn what their boundaries are.

Same here kidda but people do react differently.

I think this thread should now be closed by the mods to be honest. It turned from an apology to an internet arguement. I'm sure the mackems will be loving what has been said. At the end of the day we all come on here as we have at least one common interest 'Newcastle United'. Other reasons I've been on here have been for the banter and some of the quality of the funny posts especially the Tiote ones have had me in stitches.

My own Mam and Dad come on here too and they have been creased at what they've seen.
 
The only time we've seen trouble on here BT's been behind it. I say we give him a free transfer over to the mackems.

Everybody else seems to get on famously, look at all the threads and posts on this board compared to other teams boards and never a cross word as a rule.

I think ToonSi comment sums it up, and people need to know there are limits on here just as there are in everyday life.

Though we are all Black and White we are still diffrent

Knew a couple that came from Durban, the guy worked in my department. He died a while ago and his widow is now living in Canada but travels home regularly to see her parents. She's not interested in football but was emailing me all the time during the World Cup, it seemed to get into her blood.
 
Durban is fantastic Agent Brucey. I moved here 3 years ago and didnt know what to expect as you hear all the horror stories in the papers. Its fantastic, i live in a place called Umhlanga Rocks, just stick into google and you'll see how gorgeous it is.

My Fatha hasn't been to see me as his new wife is scared of coming to SA!?!?! but then goes for holidays in Cuba and Jamaica, hmmmmm!
Recommend it to anyone for a holidays, lots of ex-pats, good golf, beaches and the booze is CHEAP! LOL

World Cup was immense over here apart from the Vuvu-****ing-Zelas!
