....how would the club handle it ?
To be clear, I'm not saying I think we will (or won't) go down and this isn't intended as a thread to discuss the likelihood of relegation, it's just hypothetical and the club will have plans in place so I'm just wondering what people think that would look like.
I think we'll be fine regardless as we are now a smart, well run club, but with us taking such huge strides to look like a Premier League outfit across the board how could that be dealt with if dropping a league?
The playing side is relatively straight forward I would say, there would be another massive turnover of players as I couldn't see many (any?) of our summer signings staying, and even the likes of Ballard, Rigg, Isidor, Mayenda and Hume would be likely to fancy a return to a second tier having had a taste of the top flight. It will all be comfortably financed by parachute payments and the massive fees a lot of our squad would attract.
We're hugely upgrading our coaching and performance side of things both in terms of numbers and quality/calibre. Would that sort of structure be sustainable at Championship level? Would any of the higher profile recruits stick around? They all come with great pedigree and CVs so would they want to move on or would they see it as just a year to get out of the way with an 'inevitable' return to the big time at the end of it?
Off the pitch on the commercial side would we continue to try and court the same corporate following where the interest will be hugely diminished or would we look to repackage our offerings to attract a kind of midway 'customer'?
Anyone have any thoughts about what the club's contingencies would look like and how easily achievable they would be?
