I never said you are not a Celtic fan, I said anyone who sings it at Celtic Park is not a Celtic fan. The song is banned end of and I don't care if they've been singing it since Moses was a boy because it makes me feel like an outsider, do you not get that? Do you not get that some people don't like it, loathe it even, because it creates an Us and Them mindset? You do not think this song and others are highly offensive to even to a small selection of Celtic fans?

This was a club built for all, not for some gang of delinquent malcontents who wear their personal rebellion like a medal, acts of sheer stupidity and wilfullness are their stock in trade, and if you or anyone thinks the wind is shifting in their favour then you are dreaming. Even lads on here like Anp who have experienced the troubles first hand think they should stop.

It's time to move on and leave the baggage behind and drag some people into the 21st century, most people want nothing to do with them.
Dev, do you think I am suggesting that Celtic is a club for Republicans and Republicans only? That is what it reads like. Are you trying to create the impression that this is what I think?

No again, I never said that, i'm saying that it has no place at Celtic Park. In the past I have felt about as welcome there as I would feel at Ibrox. Celtic was not created as a political or religious vehicle, it was created to ensure that people from the Protestant and Catholic communities both felt welcome whilst watching their football team. There should be no Us and Them, only Celtic supporters, everything else is immaterial.

I know what Celtic was founded for and by whom. I also know how they felt and acted about the cause of Irish Liberation. If you are intent on pretending that isn't a part of the club then that is your prerogative. If you want to pretend that this cause isn't synonymous with Celtic and an important part of fan culture then you can do that too.

It is as legitimate a position as the apolitical and for all the times Celtic have engaged with politics and political issues throughout the history of the club it seems a rather absurd position to contend otherwise.

I think how completely hollow your words are when recalling your reaction to the poppy protest. You want to hunt with the foxes and run with the hounds here Dev. Not once do I recall any of this stuff about a welcoming place for all to come and watch football in your repertoire then. Not one single time. Rather a whole lot of anger towards the GB who didn't want that politic at the club.

You have made it quite clear. You agree with the criminalisation of Celtic supporters for something you know to be unjust. You know it to be unjust but want it anyway....

I'm extremely sceptical as to how you have approached this debate. Somewhere along the line this went from contesting the point to winning. I don't know where it happened and I don't care as I'm not interested in that. You know you conducted it badly and I'm not prepared to continue with it on that basis.

If you want to discuss it properly another time, then I'm open to it. Just play with a straight bat next time.
